I'll give credit where credit is due. Osgood played well. Fleury and the Pens just played better. I still think this should be Osgood's year to retire, but we'll see what he does...and where Conklin goes.

Oh gee....you're probably right. The guy definitely lost the game for Detroit. Rolling Eyes On top of that, he had a really bad series. Rolling Eyes I believe the phrase I'm looking for here is "Get a life". Osgood played amazing in these playoffs. Better, IMO then he's played before. They just got beat by a team that played better in the last game and a goalie that got pissed off and played up to his potential after a 5-0 loss. This is not Osgoods fault. If you're going to point the finger, point it at Brad Stuart. He's the guy that didn't do his job on both Pittsburgh goals.

Agree/disagree on a few points.

One - Can't blame the loss on Osgood. He played better than he did all season, leading to point #2...

Two - He was not good during the season. But, he made up for it where it counts.

Three - Ozzie should now retire.

Four - Like Cman said, Stuart screwed up badly.

I guess no one took it as a joke because I don't like Detroit.
Yeah, Osgood made some big saves throughout the playoffs. I'm not really a big Fleury fan either.

Some goalies that I like who didn't fare as well as Osgood in the series: Jonas Hiller, Simeon Varlamov, Nikolai Khabibulin, and Evgeni Nabokov. I don't the Bruins either so I am not a fan of Tim Thomas even though he played well.

No way Oz should retire yet he has more game in him. That game was something els, the wings did not play for crap untill the last 10 min, to little to late, to teh credit of the pens, they shut key wing players downa nd did what they needed to do, and Flurys save at the end of the game, was kick a$$. not the most spectacular but he did what he had to get in front of that puck.

I don't like Detroit...in fact I've said multiple times that I hate Detroit. But you have to give credit where credit is due. And R2MN followed the same path every Detroit fan has thus far...

YES, Osgood SHOULD retire. This season was abysmal and lord knows how the next will go. He single handedly gave the Avs three out of the 4 matches this past season. If he does that next year too many times, the Wings won't see the playoffs again and it doesn't matter how great you perform, if you're not in...you can't show off.

If I am to pigon holed into a fan of a team, it would be the leafs...thanks.
Osgood did have a bad start, he knows and we all know it. What about other younger goalies who have bad seasons, should they hang them up? The guy bounced back from it and played what I believe is a record setting playoff GAA.
The wings will be fine, they pulled him when he was and like the wings always do they make guys earn their spots and he re earned his. ITs safe to say that he is not going anywhere at this time, that he does not want to go to.

You say Osgood should retire, when you cheer for a guy like Nabokov. Time and time again has proven he is not a money goalie, and he will never be considered one. He cracks under pressure, and if the Sharks are going to get anywhere in the next few years, it's not going to be with Nabokov.

They shoulda kept Toskala. If he had a better team in front of him, he'd be doing alright. Shoulda given Nabokov to Toronto.

Nabby and Osgood should both retire.

Ozzy did great.....in the playoffs. He kept Detroit within a reasonable distance whenever they got behind. Laughing

But I believe he should retire.

completly different question, however, sorry, but I never found out the reason. Why did Jonas Hiller play over Giguere for the Ducks? Was Jiggy just doing horrible, and they made a good switch, or was it injury realated?

Hiller was the better goalie throughout the season, so they decided to give him the nod over Jiggy. Hiller is the goalie of the future for the Ducks anyway.
