well for there are so huge +sizings i guess they will do a rule change on that part. But in general i don't think that our equipment should be reduced once again. Just have a look at last nights games: Even the islanders came to score 7 goals Cool . I think there are plenty of goals scored. Why should we reduce the size of our equipment just to see a 15-12 regularly on the scoreboard. I know I'm exaggerating, but that's just the way i think. A 2-0 game can be even more entertaining than a 3-1. It's not only the goals that make us love this sport. It's the WHOLE game.

Yeah, that make US love the sport, they're doing it to get people that don't watch hockey. I hate what they're doing, too. I think more physicality would open up the game and bring in more fans. Whenever I talk to anyone that doesn't watch a lot of hockey, and they see a highlight, they care a lot more aboutthe hits then they do the goals. I think they should limit the penalties back down to where they were before the lockout, and bring in some more hitting.

But whatever, just my view

Not really IMO. More or better to say harder hits do cause injuries. Neither is good for the audience who have to miss watching some real good players nor is it good for the players. Actually i don't know anybody who likes to be injured. Nor do I.
but sorry if i am taking this right now to another level than you actually thought of. What changes would you be looking for?

i'm all for reducing equipment sizes more. Not leg pad widths any more, but lengths by an inch or two. And I completely agree with reducing C/A sizes. The last thing i want to see is another Garth Snow

THEY COME UP TO HIS EARS! A well designed and properly fitting C/A provides just as much protection as these oversized pillows guys are wearing on their torsos. The position should be about talent and intelligence, not about who has the biggest piece of gear.

We should be aspiring to this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ywv_JCyolU

Not Vladikov: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KFiN9C4t3rc

On the hitting and injury note - Seeing a guy get nailed center ice, and have to get carried off on a stretcher is my idea of excitement Very Happy But maybe that's just me.

Well, I understand what your getting at. What I mean is kinda uncontrolable, sorry I even brought it up. Laughing That'd be more of a player thing, not a rules change. Laughing

haha such an aggressive female we have around here! I don't know... it seems that with today's game, scoring has been pushed to the limit and there shouldn't be too many changes going on. The fact is that they wanted to get rid of the 1-0 kind of games and they have been successful in doing so. Not to mention the addition of the shootout is exciting in my opinion and leaves fans with some sort of excitement even if the game is somehow deadlocked at the end. They should give it some time before they start jumping conclusions again and reevaluate again further down the road to see what has been successful and what has not been successful.

Hey, when it comes to hockey I can play with the boys. And I don't get grossed out by gory stuff like blood, or a leg badly twisted out of place.. Razz

I'm all for decreasing the C/A though. They look like Transformers or something out there.

I don't know about decreasing the C/A. I used to play in the drop in league with a C/A from like the early 80s and it was down right scary.

I used to play drop in with one from the early '00s and it protected me just fine. That's pre-5000" of padding too. Right now I play with the Xpulse 6.0 and it's actually scarier and more annoying than anything.

Have the C/As really gotten bigger since the early 00's? I remember reading an SI article from like 2000 talking about how ginormous the C/As were then.

They had to have...I had an old Vaughn from the 2000 line and it was a senior model. It was small...it fit well but it didn't have layers and layers of extra protection.

In any event the early 80s one I was using was just scary. The one I have now is older but much more modern (probably from the late 90s or early 00s)
