Since I posted a couple days ago about Marty Brodeur's new mask, I figured I'll post this too, since I've come across more new masks.

This time, it's the Edmonton Oilers with Mathieu Garon, and Dwayne Roloson. These masks are going to accompany the third jersey (which is the retro look with the Oiler blue & orange from the 80's and early 90's)

Roloson's mask is the one on the left, and is a replica of Grant Fuhr's old mask from his time with the Oilers in the 80's. The mask comes "pre-beat up" with puck marks and such directly from Pro Masque.

Garon's mask is on the right, and is a combination of Fuhr's mask, as well as Bill Ranford's mask from back in the day. On the left side of the mask, there is a portrait of Ranford, and on the right, there's one of Fuhr.

Anyone in the full write up on the Oilers website, follow the link -- http://oilers.nhl.com/team/app/?service=page&page=NewsPage&articleid=385746

Also, Garon will be sporting a new regular mask as well... its just a sneak peek image, but I though it was kind of cool looking, so I'll post it too.

Mathieu Garon will wear this mask -- featuring a stylized oil drop and dragons on either side -- throughout the upcoming season.

I don't really like the mask. But Garon's looks like it will be decent with Oil Drop with a face, that was pretty cool.

I wish I have that kind of money. I could get a helmet painted.

Thats not a good idea, actually, I don't even know if I'm staying at EL for 4 years. But if I had money to waste, like tons of it, I'd get a cool mask. Make up for my skills. Laughing

You planning on moving or something, auburn?

I have the money for it, but I'm saving for gear, juniors, and college, so I don't keep much of what I make to spend on stuff like that.

Ehhh, I'm not a fan of the first two (the ones that match the 3rd jersey)... butt ugly, IMO.

But Garon's regular one looks kickass.

Myself, I don't mind Roloson's alternate one to match the third jersey. It's a replica, so he's just bringing back some history to go with the jersey. Garon's alternate one, I'm not so big on, but it's a nice gesture.

Apparently Roloson had Louisville/TPS make up some alternate gear as well to match the colour scheme, as did Garon with Reebok. Haven't seen them yet, since the Oilers haven't started their season yet -- that's tomorrow, and they're wearing the third jersey's for the home opener -- so if I find me some pics, I'll post them up as well -- see the whole scheme all together in one place.

Roloson had TPS make him some Fuhr looking vintage gear. It's pretty sweet. Garon's is a set of P3's in the old colors. I was hoping they would be Ranford tributes or something, but they're just blue with a lil orange

So, the Oilers season opener has come and gone, and the "retro" look has been debuted with the new third jerseys. Along with the new masks for Roloson and Garon, each has new gear to go along with the third jerseys -- much the way Roberto Luongo had in Vancouver when the blue & green jerseys were their thirds.

I couldn't find one with Roloson's new gear, but apparently its a tribute back to Grant Fuhr in his Oilers days.

Here's a good look of Garon's third jersey get-up. I'm not a huge fan of the new Reebok PS3's, but I have to say (and this could just be because I'm a bit biased being an Oilers fan and all), I think it looks pretty sharp as a whole. I'm still not a big fan of Garon's mask to go with this, but as a whole, I like the look.

Will RBK let them change the graphics on the PIII's, but still have the rest of the pad the same as the PIII?
