the wings have such a loaded roster, they could make nearly any goalie serviceable... except for Budaj and Raycroft of course

I honestly hope the Wings ditch Osgood and Conklin and get Thomas next year.

I don’t think that would be good for the wings playoffs performance.

Tim Thomas wins the NHL Lifetime Achievement Award for being the most overated goalie of all time. (Also, he wins for having the dumbest looking mask of all time). Detroit would be better off letting Ozzie go, (don't get me wrong, I think he's great), and maybe going after someone like Raycroft or someone else of his caliber.

Which alternate universe did you come from? You know Raycroft's nickname is the Swiss Cheese of Denver? He has more holes in his game than A-Rods steroids story. I haven't seen a guy flop like that since... well since Haseks last game.

Well when the defense in front of him is third rate, there is only so much a guy can do. Ozzie lets up some very soft goals but, because of playing with a good defense, (not at the start of this year, but it's improving at the right time), he still has a very good record. Roughly 25-5-8, +/-. I'm sure those numbers are not exact but they are close. If Raycroft had a better team, he would perform much better.

Okay I'm going to put this out there...

DO NOT COMPARE ANYONE TO HASEK, HE IS THE BEST.

Anyway Raycroft is brutal i'd even take Cloutier over him or Budaj Laughing .

Hasek is the second most overrated goalie ever.

Grabbing Hasek was an excellent move by Detroit! Back in 2003...

Back to Jimmy Howard, I haven't actually seen enough of him playing to know about his abilities... all i know is that he's been sitting in the minors for a long time. I think we're used to superstar young studs suddenly coming up and being touted.

Look how well that turned out for raycroft, toivenen, and price. Luongo spent a couple years down in the AHL, was into his 20s before coming up... so we'll see.

I've seen plenty of him to say that his abilities max out at the AHL level.
