I would be so up for that, seeing Price on another team. I bet he'd just improve his game, and the Habs would end up screwing themselves over. Bonus to whatever team would get him..

Except for the fact he says he likes Montreal for the most part.

I'm not sayin he would pull another Roy and win a cup right away on another team. But if he was in a different environment where he could go through the ups and downs of being a young goalie he would be alot better off and his development wouldn't suffer like it is going to if he stays in Montreal

I understand what you're saying but a goalie is going to perform to their level regardless...think about Roy/Brodeur...both played on a very different range of teams and played amazingly.

And as amazing as Roy was, he still got booed out of Montreal. Which is why i think Price would be better off somewhere else because nobody wants to see that happen again

He said that he loves Montréal and wants to play there until the team doesn’t "need" him anymore. Montreal was his favorite team going up as well... I wouldn’t count on him asking for a trade. He's not a quitter, and not a whiner. The only way he will leave is if Montréal trades him (don’t think will happen) or Montréal offers him nothing money wise for contracts.

I think he could do better if the Habs had a more experienced backup. Even if they had kept Huet and moved Price to #1, if he ever struggled he'd have Huet to kinda look to for guidance. Halak has even less experience than Price...

They have Tampa's old goalie down in the minors, but decided not to use him this season.

And just so it's clear... I'm not saying Halak did poorly, because we all know he showed up and played right on his game quite a few times. Just when you look at the combination of Price and Halak, two young guys... would definitely benefit from having an older guy to look up to and get guidance from.

Maybe Montreal should get a goalie coach that will focus on getting Price to know when he should go down and when he shouldn't. He does that butterfly slide a lot when the puck is still at the top of the circles, and he has the time to move. The result is that they pass back and he has to stop and slide back, and he ends up playing catchup and giving up great opportunities. He's good in that slide, but I think he really uses when he shouldn't.

Price would benefit a lot from some better defense. Even if the shot count is high, keeping them to the outside greatly improves the goalies chance of making a save. During the last half of the season and continuing into the playoffs they were giving up way to many 2 on 1's, 3 on 1's and breakaways. You can't give the puck away and allow those things to happen 15 times every game and still expect your goalie to be able to stop every shot. This had a lot to do with the injuries the Habs suffered, but I would also place a lot of the blame on Gainey. Not doing anything to shore up the defense a little and the scoring as well really hurt them down the stretch and in the playoff series.
Price is the man in Montreal right now and I'm sure he'll be there for a long time to come. Gainey....well, hopefully that's a different story as he seems to be becoming Montreal's John Ferguson.

lets just say it like this, if detriot had price, they'd be winning the cup as long as his contract was valid. he's a very good goalie, but needs support, and montreal has very little help on it's back end, and this series showed it.

Are you implying that Detroit's not going to to win the cup? Laughing
Becuase they still have a goalie that's worth his salary and i'm not talking about Osgood.
