He doesn't play a flashy style like some other NHL goalies try to.
By flashy I mean guys like Dominik Hasek and Marty Turco.
Carey plays a style that's all about being in the right place at the right time and controlling the rebound; everything a good goalie needs to have.
I haven't yet seen him make a "highlight reel" save, but I don't think goalies need to.
"Spectacular" saves usually occur on desperation plays where the goalie is WAY out of position, and Carey Price is simply NEVER out of position.
Thus, he does not have or need to make highlight reel saves.
If you want to see what a solid goalie is, Carey Price is the best example.
The only others comparable to him right now would be Mike Smith and Pascal Leclair _________________

He is truly the case of mind over matter.
His technical skills aren't impressive as say, Marc Andre Fleury.
Yet his patience in net, and his ability to make just the right move at the right time have shown him to be superior to Fleury in that regard; and his stats reflect his superiority this season.
The scary thing is, he still has tons of upside. |

I loved the Canada vs. USA shootout. He was spectacular in the world juniors! He's going to be a great one day! _________________

He's calm and confident, plays the puck well and seems to be in the proper position most of the time. He's technically sound in all aspects of his game. All that and he's still a rookie. I'm confident that within the next couple of seasons he will emerge as one of the best in the game.

Pretty much agree with all comments so far. His mental game is amazing for his age!
I'll take it 1 step further then CM44 and say that he is already 1 of the best in the league IMO. If it weren't for Kane and Teows (sp?) I think he would get the Caulder this yers.
At 20 (?) he has already learned the key to being a great goalie, not just a good goalie, he has the mental game down (somethig a guy like Cloutier at like 30 could never figure out). _________________ Is it over yet? |

| He's impressive. While Huet was down, how many 20 year olds would have the poise of being a starting goalie in Montreal? |

No way, he has a lot to learn. Habs dropped a couple straight with him in net when Huet was hurt. He will be better next season, and the season after that, and that .... etc. nowhere near the top right now IMO. |

Well, he's currently 27th in the NHL in GAA and 11th in SV%. I'd say that would put him near the top, if you consider that the best goalies in the world play in the NHL.
Of course, he's no Fernandez...............Thank God. _________________
