No idea on the stand-up... probably the oldest goalies who played the game before I was born.

Butterfly - Roy. Although I think giguere (as much as I dislike him) has it really well. Perfect example of a bfly goalie, granted he's boring to watch IMO.

He has a TERRIBLE butterfly.

Ya I was thinknig that as well. when ever he goes down his knees are together and there is no pad covering the five whole.

speaking of thomas, the guy really isnt athletic at all in my opinion. to me, being flexible isnt the definition of total athleticisim. if i saw thomas moving circle to circle super fast maybe so but hese far from doing that. like stated, he does real well throwing his pads around.

it takes great athleticisim to move with power and precision while mantaning propper form. any one can throw them selvs across the crease which is basicly all thomas does.

sorry, but thomas is extremely athletic. any dude that does bikram yoga is athletic. and the way he bounces around, and jumps from side to side, that's pure athleticism. it makes up for the fact that he is one of the worst goalies as far as the soundness of his fundamentals in the league, and that lack of fundamentals is probably why it took him so damn long to come into the league. That and boston is terrible and judging their minor league goaltenders.

There are group of good goalies who were good as stand-up goalies and evolved their playing style to what we would call hybrid. It's like they played stand-up style back in the mid-80s, added elements of butterfly style of play to their game via a goalie coach, and played through to the 90s.
For example, Ron Hextall started with the Flyers in 1986 got traded in the early 90s. Was he truly a hybrid-style goalie? The second question after that would be "Fo real, fo real?"

it's all about impressing the opposite sex. all the mental evolution we've gone thru, and ultimately we're still controlled by our most basic emotions coming from the brains tem

Who are you trying to kid, you do it for other ladies. Women don't care what men think, they care what women think of them. It's absolutely the most retarded thing about women.

Laughing That's because we women judge other women based on their appearances... which I agree, is completely stupid. And highschoolish. Hence why anorexia is taking over the globe.

End threadjack. Smile

Why? Because he was a racecar driver in his spare time?
