|
|
Figured I would pose the question...
What do you all think is the best current or all time combo when it comes to the starting and back up netminder.
I dont know about the best combo ever... but the Flames with Kipper as a starter and Cujo as his back up is a pretty effective pairing.
I've always disliked Hasek and thought he would looked like he belonged behind the wheel of a NYC cab, but I have to admit him and Osgood are a pretty good pair as well.
The Sabres with Miller backed up by Thibault isnt that bad.
...and the last one that comes to mind would be my Hawks with khabibulin and Lalime is looking pretty good... although bulin isnt hasnt really played out of his mind. _________________ you're only as good as your last save

Thomas and Auld this year and for sure Thomas and Fernandez next year.
All time, I used to love the Richter and Vanbiesbrouck Ranger days. |

I loved having Smitty as Turco's backup before he got traded, solid goaltending regardless of who was starting. _________________ That's what she said!

*cracks knuckles* ahhh buffalo talk. My boy Ryan and T-bo.
Unfortunately, we all love thibault, but he isn't a solid backup goalie. The Sabres are going to go through a lot of changes this year, hopefully for the better. Auld is up, so my hopes are acquiring him as Miller's back up. Miller is a solid goalie. he had a lot of issues this year, but this coming season will only be his fourth in the nhl. So a little credit and a little slack is due (that and he's got a lot of non hockey related crap that went down this year - family dying of cancer. even his harshest critique can't fault him for that).
aaaaanyway - I don't think i can agree with the t-bo miller combo. Biron and Miller was great. I miss Marty, i do.
So hopefully next year will be Miller and Auld, or Ellis... or... my goalie legend Kolzig. It won't happen, this i know, but I would give anything for Olie the goalie to be a sabre. Ok... so i won't give up Miller... but still. could you imagine an Olie/Miller combo? We can't afford him. even with the cap increase. _________________ "I went to a fight the other night and a hockey game broke out."

| They'll probably get 'rid of one. Or, my preference, lose one to free agency. You should have a good back up, but two goalies who should be #1 you don't need. |

Tomas Vokoun and Craig Anderson... both solid goalies.
Dan Ellis and Chris Mason... Mason can play really well when the time's right (when he filled in for Vokoun last year), but Ellis had an amazing season and continued that play into the playoffs. _________________
