Has anyone read "The Game" by Ken Dryden?
I am about halfway through and I find myself highlighting various segments.
One in particular:
"While teams insist on togetherness... a goalie is the one player a team allows to be different. Indeed, as perplexed as anyone at his willingness to dress in cumbrous, oversized equipment to get hit by a puck, a team allows a goalie to sit by himself on planes or buses, to dissapear on road trips, to reappear and say nothing for long periods of time, to have a single room when everyone else has roommates. After all, shrug, he's a goalie. What can you expect?" |

I thought about picking a copy of the book up a while ago but for some reason didnt. I think Im going to have to reconsider that as it does look like a great read. Amazon/Barnes and Noble have it on sale for $20 as well which never hurts. _________________ you're only as good as your last save

It's a great book, written by one of the few athletes who can actually write.
Loved the part where he talks about how depressed he felt during the heydays of the habs because he didn't feel they really needed him. |

I recently picked up a copy of "The Greatest Hockey Stories Ever Told" and it has an excerpt (sp?) of that story in it. Sounds good _________________

That's how I roll.
And man, most of what it said applies to me. Only one kid on my team who I actually hung out with and liked.
Well, I only stayed at a hotel for hockey once, and I slept in my truck. _________________
