Canucks' Luc Bourdon killed in motorcycle crash. At just 21, he was killed after hitting a tractor trailor with his motorcycle near his hometown. 10th overall draft pick in 2005, he had a promising future in the NHL, that now, will never happen Crying or Very sad

I read about this earlier, I hate to see such promise cut short.

R.I.P., my condolences go out to his friends and family.

This is a real shocker. I watched him play for my Moncton Wildcats. Definitely a sad moment for hockey fans in the Moncton.

Because if the crash was as a result of him speeding, then it can play into people's views of the accident.

IMO, still extremely tragic. I heard it on the news at my dentist appointment this morning.

It got deleted because it was a sensitive topic, not because it was off-topic. Just FYI Wink

Whatever. I'm not saying I think Luc deserved it at all! If anything, I feel really bad for his friends, family, fans, etc. It's a horrible thing either way whenever somebody dies. R.I.P

I was just responding to your question as to why it would matter to certain people. And those people who form opinions based on whether he died speeding or not, they're just idiots. Nobody deserves to die, whether their own fault or not.

Just as an "FYI", as far as anyone knows right now, it was not because of speeding. More because of inexperience. Luc had just got his bike license two weeks before the accident. Also, he was driving in Lameque, a small town near his home town, where winds were gusting. I've been there many times. When the wind blows there, there is nothing to stop it. It can push your vehicle pretty hard, and if you're not expecting it, it can push even a car around some. The high winds and inexperience put together are believed to have caused the accident. It is believed a gust of wind unexpectedly pushed the bike across the line into the path of the oncoming tractor trailer.
I don't know how fast he was going, but, when bikes and tractor trailers collide, it doesn't matter how fast or slow the bike is going, it is going to be fatal for the driver.

RIP Luc.
