| Yeah, protection to a place you don't get hit if you're full butterfly. If you take them off it gives you a little more mobility and takes a little off the weight of your gear |

| I just bought a set of the Nike/Bauer ones. I need them badly because when I go down my knee and thighs are always exposed; I've taken hundreds of shots there and am tired of the pain and bruising. They kneepads have given me some confidence, but at the expense of 2 things. 1) The strap that holds my knee in the cradle now has to fit around my big a$$ knee *and* the kneepad, and it's at its limit. This has caused my knee to be further from the pad than I'd really like. 2) As you mentioned, they slide down. I have big legs and there's just no stopping the top portion from sliding. |

I just bought the Vaughn 8000's and attached them to the pants. They're real comfortable and the thigh protector is nice because now i removed the thigh board on the pads because the knee protector is so long. _________________ Itech X-Wing Pro C/A

I got a shot in the knee last week at practice... still have the damn bruise. Hurts, but that's half the fun of being goalie... I don't mind the bruises I'm proud of them.
Whatever it takes to stop the puck _________________

It's really not. You take weight off your pad and add to your mobility. And when you're a butterfly goalie, unless you go down flat, you shouldn't be getting hit there. And if you do, shake it off.
And in my opinion, the worst pain ever is a cramp in your hamstring |

It's pretty much the worst pain of your life (I would prefer to be hit in the balls) that goes on for 30+ seconds. I don't get many, maybe 3 or 4 per year, but they hurt really bad. Like if I were in class, or church, or on the ice, or in a don't make a noise or you will be killed room, I would fall over on the ground and do a contineuous, owwwwwwwwwwww!!!!!!!! until it goes away. It hurts that bad.
But on the thigh boards thing...It hurts when you do get hit in the knee. But it's pretty rare. It's enough to make you slow to get up, but not enough to make me want to wear thigh boards or wraps. |

| I don't see how he had a career ending injury from that. They're called thigh boards and thigh wraps, not knee cap boards and knee cap wraps. Your knee caps are protected in you pad if they are the correct size. The worst that is going to happen is you going to get hit in the thigh and get a bruise. |

Im pretty sure between a 90+mph puck and your knee, im sure ur knee will feel pain and the puck will not. its rare, put ppl will get nailed in the knee, like he did, his pads were the correct size too, if anything they were too tall even i wondered how the puck got in there. thigh is a different story, ur correct there, the worst that will happen is a bruise probably. but everything is personal preference. |
