Im getting ready to order a new pair of leg pads. I was wondering if anyone had opinions on the Vaughn Velocity 7400 Sr. series at 37 +1

I'm 6 3" and use a 36+1. There isn't a game that goes by that I don't get reminded that I made the right decision. There are super light and comfortorable. Nice flex and great rebound control. They have the best butterfly rotation of any pad I've ever used. Do it. _________________ Vaughn 36" V3 Leg Pads (Black, Silver and White)

I don't know much about the actual pad since I haven't tried them out at all yet... but is that the colour combo you're thinking of going with?
If so - it looks totally BA |

Hey guys...well I've been looking into buying a set of 7400 pads and the gloves as well, and I wanted an opinion on the pads and gloves and this is what I wanna hear. Sounds like any one who has tried them are not disappointed so that really is selling them for me. I've also been looking at the Bauer one95's trying to decide what set to go with the Vaughn's or the Bauer's??? So if anyone has some advice on the subject please let me know.. _________________ MMM..Nice try no goaloff!! |

Hey Rock,
I just wanted to give you a warning that the response you got on here were to the Vaughn 7500 not the 7400 which is the step down.
As far as the pads go I do know someone who has them and loves them so far. He's played about a month in them and says he doesn't notice any difference from his Vaughn 7000 (Velo 1) and T5500 catcher. |

The only difference between the 7400 and 7500 is a versatile strap option and slightly different foam sizing inside the pad. Not a lower quality foam, but just the pieces installed are cut different. I think it makes the 7400 slightly softer (I stress slightly) and lighter. I spent a long time comparing the two and corresponding with Vaughn before I went with the 7400s. With the money I saved I can invest in other equipment. The difference in price is due to them being made in China as opposed to Canada. But I examined the pads intensely before I bought them.
Also quick FYI apparently Kiprusoff uses the same internal foam as the 7400s, but in a 7500 shell. According to the guys @ Vaughn. _________________ Vaughn 36" V3 Leg Pads (Black, Silver and White)

Sure, and any salesman/employee/CEO or transporter working for GM would've told you the Chevette was the best car ever produced...identical to a corvette at a quarter of the price.
I've said it in my reviews and I'll say it again, I've never heard anything good about the durability of the Chinese produced pads so just be careful. Like my Mother always told me. If you don't want to do it again, put the extra effort in and do it right the first time. |

I was actually speaking to guy who does their #d designs for pad foam moldings. I happen to have a contact through the engineering community, because we have mutual contact for the CAD program we use. So...not a sale guy. _________________ Vaughn 36" V3 Leg Pads (Black, Silver and White)

| There is a BIG difference between the 7400's and the V3's!!! Leg channel padding, and straps are the biggest to me. That being said, I have been super happy with my 7400's. More than enough protection for rep play, and not a stitch out of place or any undue wear after about 30 times out. These pads are light, comfy, and perform very well. For the price you really can't beat them, but they are definitely NOT "just like the V3's only made over seas"! There is a big difference, but these pads are very very good for the money. I think Vaughn got it right this time!!!! |
