I recently purchased the new '08 Vaughn V3 chest protector.
When I first picked it up I had to double check it was still together because it was so light. Much lighter than my simmons 993 and it is a size bigger!! Vaughns design team did a fantastic job with color scheming, material selection and overall adjustments.
The Back/Shoulders: The back is actually completley seperate from the chest pad and is held on by velcro. It is extremely adjustable. They went with two bottom straps near the bottom of the back to hold it tight. Very adjustable and elastic helps keep it tight. The shoulder areas have one of the best strapping systems i have ever seen. I believe there is eight, yes eight, indiviual straps you can adjust. Two on each side adjust how tight it is held to the clavical and shoulder area and the back plate is adjustable up down left and right. I am very, very pleased with this system.
The white is tape to hold it together, the velcro ran out of room
Showing the 2 piece back
Arms: I was extremely skeptical when I first saw them. There is only four straps on the entire arm, and no velcro or elastic, something I was not used to. But it is a case of short and sweet. After about five minutes of tinkering I got them perfect nice and tight very minimal movement when i moved my arms. The elbow protectors are flat bottomed, not like the conventional round bottom.
Chest: There is a few adjustable pieces, one on each side near the ribs and one on each side near the shoulders. I have yet to move them around because I really like the way they are set up. The padding is phenominal, the bottom of the chest pad is what made me happy. instead of being thin flimbsy foam it is thick and fits perfectly in my pants for extra pelvic protection. The neck protector on it is perfectly placed doesnt gag me like my old one and is actually quite beefy unlike others I have tried.
Orange pieces are adjustable
Looks:10/10
Couple guys on my team said you should play with out a jersey just tape your number on the back.
Protection: 10/10
Unreal, Dont feel any shots to the stomach and tonight I took two slappers from the slot one when right off my shoulder and i didnt feel any pain and one hit me right in the center of my chest right below my neck protector, very scary shot, didnt feel any pain.
Flexibility: 10/10
Wow, felt like I used it for months and I had it on for ten minutes before my game. I never would do this with motion protection pads (leg pads, glove, blocker, skates, pants, C/A) but I did, I used it without a practice or skate. Boy, I was happy as a pig in poo, except I was a goalie in a C/A. LOL
I really have never felt so good about an equipment buy, one of the best things I have ever bought. If there is any more questions let me know! _________________

I used it in a game, first day I got it. You can probably order it in custom colors but I dont see the point when no one sees it and it would take 4-6 weeks to get. _________________

wow, there really no point of getting a custom colored c/a. Nobodys gonna see it, and you most likely have to pay more money, and like SHGoalie5
said, it will take long to get. _________________

If you want custom, without paying the extra price then get out your crayola's!!!
But if you have a little extra $$$ then go to a sign shop and get custom print or cut vinyl to add to your cup, c/a, mask, stick, skates what ever.
I am a graphic Designer and work in a sign shop so have access to endless amounts of cut vinyl and print vinyl materials. By far the easiest way to custom anything, and you can change it if you get bored with it. lol |
