Hey all...just going through some sites trying to decide what brand of gear to buy?? I'm torn between Simmons,Smith,Eagle,RBK, and Bauer. I've been going over and over the specs and want to make the right choice for the buck. I play in a senior men's league and against some big shooters so I want to make the right choice. I have a budget of $1200 for the set so I want the best gear for the $$$$. I fit into a 32" pad stand 5'7" and weigh 173Lbs, so maybe and Intermediate set would be good but maybe I might be lacking on the protection?? Anyone have any suggestions?? _________________ MMM..Nice try no goaloff!! |

Call up Mark up at Simmons and talk to him. He definately has the best bang for the buck when it comes to equipment. Smith is great stuff as well, but I don't think you will able to get into a full set of Smith gear for $1200. Maybe a set of pads and a catcher or blocker, but not both gloves.
I currently have a set of Smith 5000s and a set of the Simmons Matrix 3's.
I love them both. I know that you can buy a set of Simmons UL5 or 994
for $1200. When you call, ask about the Matrix 3's. If they have anything left in stock in your size, you could probably get a better deal. As far as the other makers(RBK, NikeBauer, etc.) You won't be able to get into any of their Senior Pro level stuff(North American made) for $1200. You would probably have to go with some of their Asian made products. |

A full set of Smith's cost me $1500 CDN. That's with the $20 charge for having my name stitched into each piece of gear. _________________

| Yeah, with Pete's current pricing, it would run you $1355 USD for a complete set, without the shipping. Still a great price, but, not within the $1200 mark. |
