| I have worn V2s and V3s and can honestly say that the Smith pad is a lot better at almost half the price. You can get a whole set for what it would take you to buy just a pair of V3s. The 8 weeks are worth it, and you have the added security of having Pete fit you correctly for the pad. |

You may find this comparison useful - you have heard what I said about the quality of my Smith's. In January 2008, I bought a pair of pads from a "top of the line" Canadian company on the strength of their reputation and past purchases - my C/A and catcher are from the same company, but made in Canada. Foolishly, I did not check where the pads were made before purchasing - I would have never thought they would out-source to China. Unpacked the pads and there it was - "Made in China." Because I bought them in the US, the hassle to ship them back, fees, etc. were too much, so I kept them and hoped for the best. Within 3 months of play, I had torn out two buckles and had the stiching repaired 3 times at a cost of $75.00. The padding was starting to settle inside the pads and was loose. They were quickly sold and replaced by the Smiths.
By the way - Smith has moved the "S" logo from the thigh rise further down the pad to below the knee. |
