yea i meant how it stretches

You do realize that the amount the leather stretches is negligible, right? We're talking like 1mm if you work hard to stretch it.

So I'm between getting smiths and simmons. I currently have some 34" Simmons UL2 and I love them, but theres kinda a gap still when i go into b-fly which might be because I'm more of a hybrid style. So my big question is does Pete do + sizing? I know he has the adjustable thigh rise, but honestly I don't think I like it, I'd rather have something static and a little more solid. Also how are the SP2000 or 5000 for a hybrid goalie?

He does do plus sizing, or you can get it adjustable. Your choice. He suggested 36 + 1 for me but I chose to go with the adjustable thigh rise.

Just email Pete, he's an extremely friendly guy. Willing to answer any questions you have, even if you aren't ready to buy just yet. Certainly a lot more responsive than some other smaller companies who prefer ignoring emails and copying graphics.

Hi - I asked myself a very similar question at about this time last year - I was trying to decide between Smiths and Simmons. I went with Smith 5000 for a number of reasons: innovation and full size customization for about the same price as Simmons (at that time) were my two biggies. The wait time was really the only downside to Smith. From what I hear, the Simmons are about equal in durability. Also, I wanted to do business with and support a guy who advances goal equipment with new ideas.

Smith will make any size pad you want from what I understand. I did get the adjustable thigh rise (in case I wanted more coverage), but tried to be precise in sizing. Net result: I've not really used the thigh rise, although I experimented with it. Would I get it again? Yeah, I probably would for the cost involved. It is more durable that it probably looks.

I play a hybrid style, and found the 5000 to work well for me. I also fall victim to the b-fly gap, but that is my fault, not the pads. It has been less of an issue with the Smiths overall, though.

AHH! my smith 6000 came in today! Don't have a lot of time, but out of the box, I love 'em. The pads are great, very comfy and flexible, but i'm gonna have to work on the straps. Blocker, well its pretty hard to scrub a blocker but its super comfy, lots of wrist movement. AND The glove, is amazing. Messing around for 5 minutes and I already have it perfect for my hand. Its so different than any other glove I've tried but its def the best. Hopefully I can get pictures and an on ice review within a couple days. Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

I was asked for some pictures of the pads, so here they are. I only took pictures of one of the pads because the member wanted pics of the outside, inside, face and boot/leg channel and they're the same on both pads. Laughing

First the face.

The outside edge.

The inside edge.

The outside edge flexed.

The back snapped.

And opened.

Adjustable thigh rise and the two laces you can tighten to get more of a curve on the pads. With the flexibility of these pads, I haven't really tightened those laces too much. My butterfly is pretty wide so I don't need much of a curve to close the five hole anyway.

The boot channel.

The goalie room. It's a storage room that obviously has the stairs going up so I utilize the underside of the stairs for hooks for my gear until I get a proper unit built with a separate compartment for each piece of gear.

And for those that are going to ask for a picture of the butterfly, I took these. I'm not in them, but you can see they're not straight like they were when I got them. I may end up tightening the laces in back to get a little more curve, but I'm gonna use them a few more games like they are first.

Which model is this?
