If I'm remembering correctly, when I first started inquiring about Smith pads, I had emailed Pete about the 4000 series, which I wanted in 11" and was told it was no problem. I could be wrong on that, so I sent an email off to Pete to clear it up. I'll let you all know when I have the answer. |
Thx, i was looking on the site, and it siad 12" on all the other pads. So i was like, wtf. _________________

I just got a reply from Pete about the pads that should clear this all up. Here's the quote.

There is nothing better then Smiths. I could be a little biased though. _________________

I love my new SP5000's and I would highly recommend them to anyone considering them. Rebound control is great and the outer wedge is a must.
Everytime I get on the ice with them I get more comfortable. Very light and I have no complaints. _________________

I haven't really even noticed the outer wedge panel. _________________ That's what she said!

Gimboo-
If you have played with older gear like I have for so long you tend to notice the little details. I noticed the first game how nice the outer wedge panel is after taking the first shot of the game right on it. It seals along the post so well and I like having it on my pads.
I don't think it costs any extra which is nice! _________________

| The pictures of all of the Smith pads in this post are sweet!! I have a set of 5000 pads in white, silver, black coming at the end of August. Pete put me into a straight 36" pad. I also have the 5000 blocker coming in the same colors. The wait is killing me!! Definately excited to get them on the ice!! |

I don't care for them at all. I wish that I had gone with all leather straps, instead of just leather straps at the calf. I cannot seem to get them adjusted just the way I like them. They are either too tight or too loose and they are a pain in the a$$ to adjust, especially while playing. I am really talking about the straps that wrap around the knee. The top strap and the thighboard strap don't bother me, since I wear them super loose. I understand Pete likes to use them(for weight), but, I just don't see them being any better or having advantages than the leather straps. I am going to try to change them out to leather straps. |
