The 995 straping.
since these are a custom order only I would order them with out the middle strap at least and if I ordered them I would go with only one knee strap as well. all together, it really does nothing. _________________

folks if your in that boat trying to decied this should put you over the edge..this is just crazy! |
Damn! LOL, I ordred my 994's 2 weeks ago and they came out to 724 shipped which was a great deal. Very nice pad but I need to tweak the straps. Funny enough I bought 32+2" pads and they're almost the same size as my 993's which are 34+2" |
Update: I played my second game with these last night and now that I have them how I like, they are amazing. I loosened them up some and now they sit more like my 993's did and it was fantastic. My movement was quick, recoveries were better. Due to the smaller size they do not feel as bulky. I'm landing in the knee cradle properly now! I land either in the center or just under the center. We managed to beat a team that has the starting goaltender for one of the norcal PIHA teams. As a team we played great until the end, they scored 2 goals because we kinda stopped playing . We were winning 6-2 and ended 6-4.
At this point with my excitement I'd probably give these a 10/10 rating but I'll withhold final judgment until I play a bit more in them. _________________ Simmons 994 32+2" | Simmons 994 Blocker | Simmons 993 Glove | Simmons 994 Pants | Rbk 6k Fluery Stick | Heaton Helite Z Pro CA | Maltese Combo | Hackva 2608

for a pad that is suposed be like the koho...it looks more like a vaughn than the ul5, the variation has to be int he leg channel.

Here's my one year brief review:
I'm very happy with this equipment and I really don't have any complaints. The pads and gloves have performed admirably. When they first arrived it only took me a couple times on the ice to be comfortable in the equipment. The only break-in issue I had, which I think was more of a "getting used to" issue, was the blocker and my forearm getting completely pumped after about 15 minutes of use. Either my arm got stronger or the straps and internal glove loosened up enough that I've never noticed it again.
In the pictures below you will notice some wear and tear on one of the pads, on the inside bottom edge and on the toe piece, the leather is starting to wear through. I'm not sure if that's normal or not, hopefully someone here can answer that.
If anyone has any questions feel free to ask and I'll try to help out!
The soft leather knee pad below is getting funky. I think it absorbs alot of sweat during play.
The color has worn off the leather as seen below, probably no big deal I'm just picky
Good image below of the toe strap leather starting wear, not sure if I should be concerned about this
The glove on the blocker is in fine shape, no wear and tear.

totally normal and dont sweat that at all, you can wear totally through that layer, there is another below it, then under that is actual pad facing, DS can and will repair that surface for little cost once you wear through it. one of the many great perks about owning quality N American pads. _________________

| I just bought a pair of 994's. My old Simmons pads were Platinum 2K's (yes, bought in the year 2000). They are still in good shape after ten years and if technology hadn't moved on (especially weight and material) I would continue playing in them. I briefly bought Chinese made Vaughn Visions that lasted 2 year before literally ripping to shreds. I'm confident the new Simmons pads will be awesome and great quality for the price you pay. |

I love mine, I just relaced the inner leg channels back in, I will likely keep them in this time, rebounds are much softer with them in and more controlled, I dont know why but with them out the pad becomes more lively. _________________

You will not be disapointed, I bought Simmons 994's in Jan of 2009, great quality. Probably the last pad I will have to buy. |

just around the house... i can actually grab the stick with my trapper and hang onto it pretty well it takes a pretty rough hit with my other hand to knock it out.. so i figure this will tranfer into better puck handling ability and already fixes the major complaint i had previously with my old 4.8... opens great, huge face it just seems twice the size of my old glove and weighs a lot less.
it was a bit hard to close right out of the box but put some weight on it for about 4 hrs and its great. i leave weights on it every day for a weigh just to keep breaking it in. as well as leaving it open too.

Now, but from reviews it was comfortable, very protective and long lasting, like all simmons gear. _________________

Returning2MyNet, I've actually took the time to read the time to read this entire thread, and I'm as impressed with what i've seen here as I am with what I've seen on the DS page. I'm strongly considering the 995s. I'm switching over from RBK Lefevre PremierI pads. Any advice on what I can expect to be better with the 995s? _________________ SAVE! |

The pad closes up a bit better, the toe and movement when in butterfly is better as the changes improved those areas of the pad the most. Subtle changes, but still noticeable. _________________
