Reviews about Reebok goaltending equipment. Be it possitive, or negitive, post if its about the equipment.

I have RBK 5k skates that I just got about a month and a half ago, I would give them a 9 in comfort. The are intellegantly designed and easy to shuffle in. They are the best skates for the price, they cost like 300US or something like that Confused

The next step up was a 9k skate and those were like 700US which is ridiculous for skates, so I went with the 5k, and they are very good.

I also have a RBK 6k goal stick, its fairly light, hold up well, and an OK shot but its not great, but that may just be because I have a Raycroft curve, and it was pretty cheap, probably about 90US when I got it, I would reccomend it Smile

I would give RBK a B+, they make good stuff Very Happy

3k Skates - feel good, comfortable. Perhaps I got 1/2 size too big, but better than too small. Laced up tight my foot is solid in them.

6k Pads - Still working out the strapping kinks... to toe tie or not to toe tie... how loose each strap... etc. etc.
>>Nov. 10, 2007 - used the pads 4 times now for shinny (about 1hr each time) and the differences between these and the higher models is showing. there are loose thread ends fraying out on the front of the pads (nothing major, just not all that pretty, but I"ll just trim them back down later.) Another issue is the velcro is coming off on the wide elastic strap behind the knee on both pads. Again, a quick fix with the sewing machine, and all is right with them again, but a minor annoyance none the less. I'll try to get pictures of this stuff up sooner or later... I'm still working out strapping kinks, and trying to get the thigh guards to stop getting caught up in my pants (i have short legs, so the pants are lower than on most people, letting the thigh guards get caught. I may just take them off and use knee/thigh pads.

6k Blocker/Glove - fit well, adjusted well to my hand. Glove seems a little on the stiff side, but its new..

Xpulse 6 C/A - fits nice, more mobility than the premier 6k C/A.

As of yet this is all untested gear - will be on ice for some shinny Wed. morning, and will try to add more after that.

Almost all my gear is RBK P2's. CA, pads, blocker, trapper and my stick a 6K, my skates CCM Vector V6(almost identical to 5k RBK) with an RBK 9K blade.

Pads - the best thing about the pad, aside from pattern and colours, is the new positioning of the 2 knee straps. Its amazing the difference on the knee and hip just by lowering the 2 straps. They added a little to the thigh this year and actually lowered the knee cradle by about 1/2". Make sure you measure properly for these pads. I was a 34+1 in Premiers (last year) and am a 33+2 this year in the PremierII's. overall the pad starts stiff but if you compress the *)((& out of them and tie the toe lace around them to hold them down, they break very fast. Rebound control is awesome. 5 hole coverage is great (when bronken in, a little open at first). comfort and feel is great and they slide extremely well. Overall the pads are a 5/5.

Gloves- Essentially the trapper and blocker are unchanged from last year. they break quickly and they tightened up the hand in the trapper to stop it becoming quite as floppy over time. They also tightened up the adjuster strap on the blocker making it easier to stay within the velcros. hand protection is good but you can still get the index finger good if the puck ramps up the stick. overall 4/5.

CA- I can't say enough. I don't feel anything unless I get a high hard one from really close in and I flinch and open under the armpit. That's the only time I feel anything with this CA. Very stiff at first. Breaks in over about 6 games. comfortable and pretty adjustable. The major drawback is the back plate that bundles and lifts up. Makes you look like a hunchback. You have to fold it under and tape it in half to stop this from happening. Overall 3.5 for looks and 4/5 for functionality.

That's it guys. If you want good gear that works well and lasts, RBK works. Maybe that's why over 80% of pro goalies are wearing the stuff. (of course the endorsements contracts don't hurt either)

I have the RBK CA. The lower line, not the Premier. It provides great protection from even the hardest shots, which I can attest to after playing against guys who had their slapshots clocked at over 90 MPH.
Like squeezy said, it the back plate did bundle and lift up a little. I fixed this by moving the bottom strap to where the top strap originally when through the back plate and just running the top strap across the back plate without going through any loops. I also tightened the back straps so the CA is pretty snug and it seems to have fixed that problem.
Also, on every chest protector I've ever worn, I tie a lace on the loop that's at the bottom of the front and tie it into the lace on the front of my pants. This keeps the CA from riding up when I go into my crouch.
When I first got the CA, I had a small problem with it hooking on the top of my pants and pushing up. I've fixed this by putting suspenders on my pants, loosening the waist belt and tucking the CA into them. It feels a lot better this way because I don't feel like there's any holes if I straighten up quick on a high shot.

For protection I'd have to give it a 4.5/5. 5/5 for looks since I look similiar to the yellow and black camaro transformer before I put on my jersey. Laughing

For function, IMO another 5/5 because it performs very well in the function it was meant for.

I have the RBK 3k skates and the RBK P1 C/A and the RBK 5k catcher.

Skates: RBK 3k skates are awesome, i wasn't too sure when i bought em, them bein the lowest line and all, but they turned out great. The material on the inside is very comfortable, and it they're very light. bummer is past few times i seem to have to sharpen my skates after almost every time i'm on the ice. i do like my skates pretty sharp but i think they should figure out some way to make the edge on them last longer. overall, probably a 7.5/10

C/A: The premeir 1's are a little stiff at first but breaks in after about 4 practices. The protection is very good and i've only been hit in an open spot once. like everyone says, it does have a strange hunchback thing. I tried to fix this by loopint a seperate strap through the bottom loop in the back of the CA, and then loop it through another loop at the back of my goal pants. this has worked okay but it still looks a little funny. overall, i'd give this a 9/10.

Catcher: 10/8/07 The 5k has worked okay so far (I've only used it in about 4 games) but has taken a while to break in. I haven't gotten any stingers yet and the protection overall is okay. so far the puck has bounced out only a few times and that was probably more my fault than the glove itself. has a nice, deep pocket. overall, i'd give an 7/10.

10/16/07:oooh, never mind about the gloves protection, i got a massive stinger today from a coach. he used to play for the UND so he said the shot was probably at least goin 60mph Shocked

my hand started swellin up and i get these little stingers all the time now. Sad

11/23/07:This catcher officially sucks. Evil or Very Mad

I'm still gettin stingers on almost every shot, and it's starting to rip on the palm i'm not sure how it can rip there, but it seems to find a way. The only good thing right now is the deep pocket.

i've got the 5K skates, love them. 9K's are really nice but too much $.
5K chest and arm pads which offer good protection but mobility is not the best. they were only $140 so i went with them.
5K goal pads, pretty good but last monday i got cracked in the knee with a one timer from about 5 feet away. i don't know how the puck got between my pads when i was sliding across but i was hurting. only $250 so i bought them instead of pads i would rather for much more $$$.
anyway, boot strap is snug, ankle strap is all the way to the first notch, mid strap is a little looser and top strap is really loose because the pads curve so much i wanted to be able to stand straight without feeling the strap digging in. knee straps are loose and only tight when i am in a butterfly to keep my knee on the pad and not on the ice.
my complaint is that in order to make them comfortable playing i make them loose which causes the top of the pads to bump into each other when i'm skating full speed.

I've got the 3k skates and Premier II set of pads/blocker/catcher (fleury colors).

Everything from RBK is top quality and I love their products. I expect my future hockey purchases will be from them.

I own a complete set of RBK 7k goal pads. The color scheme on mine is White/Blue/Black. After having Itech 4.8's, I switched over to the more comfortable, safe and durable RBK stuff. I didn't have enough money to buy pads over 600$ so I went with the 7k gear that happened to be laying right in the front of all the goalie gear.

Leg Pads-Some of you will disagree, but I feel and see no difference (except the straps) between 7k's and the original Premier Series. I play more of an open leg butterfly style (meaning I don't like squeezing my knees together) and have found that my pads suit me really well for my style. Knee and leg protection are top notch, I never get stingers or hit above my knees. The only thing that I don't really like is the Nylon strapping system. It just seems kind of low-end and cheap to me, but so far they havent broken so I'm cool with it. 8/10 for the pads

Gloves-Definite difference between 7k's and Premiers here. The trapper is just floppy, I never feel like it's as tight as I want it to be.
The blocker's a little better, I like the way it feels, except when I have to play the puck because then it puts alot of torque on my wrist.
6/10 for trapper and blocker

Chest Protector- Lower end RBK 5k chest protector. never worn anything except the 5k and a Bauer Reactor, and the 5k is WAY better than the Bauer. The only problem I have with it is that it doesnt have any side-body protection, so if a shot sneaks under your arm and hits you in the ribs, you'll REALLY feel it. thats the only problem though. 8/10 for this one

The pads are all broken in really well, and I don't see a need to get new ones anytime soon. RBK is great and I don't think I'll be using anything else for a while.

I just got a set of p2 turco breaks aswell as p2 glove and blocker, no use in them yet but everything about them looks and feels amazing.

I also have the premier 1 chest and arm, I've used it 3-4 times a week for about three seasons and I have no complaints at all. Everything is just perfect about it. definitly a 10/10.

I was just wondering how any of you p2 pad users strap your pads up, I have the boot strap fairly tight, the bottom two calf straps as tight as they go, and the top calf strap is third from tightest. Then the weird part is my lower knee strap is is second from tightest and I wear the top strap on the pad as tight as it goes. And I use the knee straps in the lower position on the pad. This set up is extreamly comfortable and I have absolutly no problems with rotation or anything so I don't plan to change anything, I'm just wondering is this normal for rbk's?

The only thing that I have that is RBK is my blocker and catcher. I have white , silver and black RBK Pulses and they have been working great. Cool

I just got me my first ever brand new set of pads. I was using an old set of Itech Profile 4.8 pads -- and they were too short; only 32" pads. I've upgraded to RBK 6K pads, glove and blocker -- pads are 36". Colour scheme is royal blue, white and silver. Photos below.

I know they're only the 6K's, and they're not the higher end that some guys have, but for the level that I play at, and the price I got em for from goaliemonkey, these were the ideal choice. I'll post more once I get them on the ice on Saturday

6k pads- I got them in August 07 and have been using them since.

After I worked out the kinks in them (how to wear them, ect) and forceably broke them in with a 3 point bend They have been preforming to every standard I have. Which isn't much becuase I'm in my 1st year of goaltending.

They're the same exact thing as Edmgoalie's but are 34"s. I'm 5'8 or so, but I think they're slightly big, nothing that hinders my playing. They butterfly perfectly with a closed 5 hole. They are quite durable 4 the extracirricular abuse I put them through. They seem to let out the perfect amount of rebound for my style of play which I like.

My initial cons iare the screws that hold the toe lace in place (rhyme!) come loose and will need repair about every 2-3months AND they are very very popular around my area. So everyone has them Laughing
