| Good catch. You can click on either the Itech or Bauer link and it says BauerItech which is almost as annoying as NikeBauer but eh...Hopefully Bauer just drops the Itech name entirely or keeps it a separate line...but no more of this dual named b/s. |

| Well, I got a pair of Reebok 5K SR goalie pads about two and a half years ago. Their really beet up and a size or two too small so i was at Hockey Life looking for new goalie pads. What really caught my eye were the NIKE BAUER ONE75 goalie gear.(catcher, blockey, pads) I was wondering how they are. Any help would be great! |

Well here goes for my first post on the forums...
I have just got myself new nike bauer one75 pads and matching blocker catcher in one 95 series. I picked them up recently on a trip to Canada from Hockey Life in Toronto (Vaughn Mills).
I have worn them a grand total of 5 times and i couldn't be happier. The pads are awesome, very comfy, great rotation, do have to wear them a little looser than my old itech's (Profile 9.1's, yes i did say old!!) but the knee stack in them is great and the flex is not bad for an out of the box pad, a little stiff but i'm told they will soften a little but not to the point of being spongy.
The gloves are great too, i went with the one 95's for 2 reasons, one to match the pads (no matching one 75's in stock) but secondly the one 95's in the catcher have an armour foam cuff and stiffened thumb, just an extra bit of protection. I did try the itech RX9 blocker and it was very cosy! but felt better in the one 95's.
All in all, i think they are great, after reading many reviews on the itech and reebok's i leant towards the nike bauers mainly for durability and wear, and after trying them out against some other like the 8k's and RX series, i am very happy with my investment.
Well i hope i helped a bit, I would recommend trying on as many as you can before they throw you out, but the guys i found at pro hockey life were awesome and their product knowledge was really good.
Oh, and in case your all wondering, yes, we do play ice hockey in Australia, just not outside!! |

Damn straight.
BTW: thank BigDog, you just made me decision for me. One question about the catcher:
i) How well is it when/ if it is worn in? _________________

well since only 5 games/practices in, the glove is pretty good, being the one95 with the hard thumb protection the thumb is stiff, but glove closes nice and pocket is good, I was surprised it was not as stiff out of the box as i was expecting but will soften as you go.
Only other comment with the palm of the blocker glove, i find that with a composite stick shaft it is 'grippy', ie - is difficult to slide the stick through for a poke check as the material grabs on the shaft, i'm sure this would be the case with other gloves too, any ideas for a fix...anyone??[/quote] |

I've never had that issue with any of my RBK blockers... and I've alternated between wooden and composite sticks. I always find composite ones slide easier... maybe it was just the stick? |
