The Matrix 3 pad is a true "lower profile" butterfly pad. Flat down coverage and super light. It is also an all Jenpro pad. The side gussets are even made out of Jenpro. The 993 is more of a hybrid butterfly/standup pad and is a higher profile pad. In my opinion it sits a little higher on the thigh.
I have played in the 993 and the Matrix and like the Matrix alot better for my style of play. But, both pads are extremely light and well built, have great landing gear and very comfortable leg channel. I have not worn or seen the 994, but, there are alot of guys that wear them. You will see more "pros" wearing the 994, than any other Simmons pad. I believe that the 994 is labelled as more of an "aggressive hybrid" style of pad. Built higher on the thigh, but has a really flat face. If you have any other questions, please PM me. I will try to answer anything I can. |
