| I have the 7.8 glove and blocker. I like them alot, the glove is solid abut it doesn't have a 4 inch thick palm like some other gloves i've tried. Blocker is okay, good mobility in wrist to play the puck or go paddle down, but part of the stitching is comeing apart after only 1 season. guess thats what you get when its made in china. Overall though, I like them, very similar to my old koho gloves which I absolutley loved,so i guess i would recommend them. |

I have the Itech NV7 w/non certified cat eye cage in white w/dangler. I got it from GoalieMonkey w/shipping for $303.00. I have more than 20 hours on ice with it so far.
The sight lines with a cat-eye cage are unbelievable (I used to wear the old square box wire).
I have taken 5-6 noggin shots that I didn't even feel and only 1 of those left a tiny little black smudge.
I removed the chin guard and straps and gun oiled all the screws and mounting holes for rustproofing.
Love the mask and feel very safe in it. Manufactured in Feb 09. |

My sister uses them, not me - so I can't provide that good of a review, and she's no help whatsoever.
Here's my impressions of them:
A very stiff, butterfly pad. Flexible enough when pulled, but other than that... it's like the side of a box.
BAD DESIGN - in terms of the stitching along the inside pad that comes in contact with the ice. After having used the pads for about 35+ hours of ice time (hockey/goalie camps) over the course of this summer (she got them in early July).. here's the results:
(NOTE: I'm not complaining about them being ripped - we were given fair warning by montreal961 and R2MN about this design flaw. We are actually bringing it in to the leather shop and seeing if they can sew it back up, but with a stronger thread. If not... we'll have to find some other way to fix it up. I am merely displaying this as added visual proof of the wear for anybody else)
This flaw hasn't yet affected the play of the pads, only the look. And since it's the inside leg where nobody really sees, it's not that big of an issue. My sister says she noticed only a very slight difference in sliding. |

Not so much a review as pictures.
Helmet was assembled in 2002. We bought it used in 2004 I believe. My sister is still wearing it in Bantam 'A' hockey.
But, we're currently in the market for a new mask. Ideally a Hackva or an NV7 if we can find a store to try them on, get the right sizing and order online. Then custom painting in November/December hopefully.
I took pictures of mostly the padding that I had to tape back to the helmet because the glue "died" and it kept falling out.

When that happend to my pads, i just brought it to a shoe repair store, and they said they would have no problem doing that. When i got home i just layerd the thread with a thin layer of super glue, and it has worked out great. _________________

| Good thinking R2MN. I think because it didn't seem to be that big of an issue it never crossed our minds, but I'll go to the website and see if there's anything they can do. |

Itech Profile 2500 w/cat-eye cage
I bought this helmet in Nov. '08, and during the remainder of that season used it on avg. twice/week. Then it saw occasional use during the summer, maybe once/week at best. And now I'm back on the ice twice/week with it.
I'm not thrilled by any means and would not recommend this helmet. The cage is rusting, it's already got a serious dent in one of the wires, and last night I got hit so hard by someone cutting across the net that it broke one of the plastic snaps in the back and tore the helmet right off my head. I had read a few reviews before I bought it that made it look alright, but now that I've already got it I've found a few threads at other goalie boards just trashing the helmet and saying how it's a "death sentence" and "concussion magnet".
The dent in the mask could just be a random thing, unless the wires in that cage are sub-standard and a better cage would not have done that. And the helmet getting tore off my head last night I guess could be random too, and it's just a fact of life as a goalie. But the cage rusting really sucks and I'm pissed about that.
But they're out of business so who cares right? Well, seeing as these helmets are on super sale everywhere just consider this review in case you think you're getting a screamin deal. _________________

2500's have had bad reviews for some time.
The only itechs I would trust is the 960/9600 or 961/9601, and the NV7 or NME7. |

Hey
I finally upgraded, or should I say updated, my equipment early this year after using my old stuff for around 8-9 years. While it was decent for it's time, I now know how much goalie equipment has progressed in the past 8 years. Weight, protection, weight, comfort.....did I mention weight?
Anyways, I tried several different types of pads (benefit of having a freind that works at a used equipment store) before finally choosing the 12.8 X-wings. I tried Reebok P2 6ks, TPS Summit 7's, Simmons 993, Brian's DX3 and the itech Xwing 7.8.
While they are all good pads, The Itechs blew the others away, they didn't have a weak point that I could (or have) found. They are more comfortable, flexible, the straps stay in place, adjustability is fantastic, light weight, slide well, rebound control is great, they close the 5-hole quickly, lie really flat on the ice and not a single stinger, even on the back of the leg.
If anyone is on the fence about which pads to get, the 7.8 and 12.8 Xwings are fantastic pads. (Let's hope Bauer keeps making them).
newt
PS - With that said, I really didn't like the glove and blocker, but the pads are un beatable. _________________ Just giv'er. |

| I've never tried out Itech pads, although I've been debating about asking my sister if I can give hers a shot. How flexible do they become? That's my only concern with them, is that they look like they're designed more for a wide butterfly goalie, whereas my butterfly is really narrow. |

| I saw brand new out of the box RX-9s that flexed better then my broken in Vaughns or Rbks. The reflex technology they built in is amazing leaving one question in my mind. What happens when they get broken in? |
