9/30/07 Wink

I have 12.8 x-wing leg pads, glove, and blocker, best pads I've ever had by a long shot Smile The leg pads are very comfortable and easy to move around in, and it has two special features no other pad has (until Simmons copies it Rolling Eyes )The blocker is very lightweight and protective, and has a grip on the palm of it. The glove is also very protective and comfortable, whenever you catch the puck, it stays dead in the pocket, the only bad thing is it's a little hard to break in.

I have Itech 4.8HP pants, they are very good, protective, flat, and solid. They don't give you any bad deflections which is very helpful.

I also have Itech Profile 8.8 chest protector, it is light and easy to move in, you can adjust almost any part of it. I have gotten a couple of bruises to the ribs but that is mostly because I wear it pretty loose, overall it's pretty good.

Itech Devil helmet, not the best helmet, and I need a new one Sad I probably wouldn't reccomend it

I give my equipment as a whole and A Very Happy

I currently have 2 sets:-

1) Itech 11.8 pro-return (Leneveu) pads
-custom pro pads with under-pant thigh boards, 12" wide 37" tall.

I have used them for about 1 3/4 seasons now (on average 1.5x to 2x per week all year long). They show little signs of wear except for puck marks (was keeping them religiously clean for the 1st season+, but have gotten lazy lately). Overall, they play really well. They're a wall on the ice, they always rotate when I want them to, and I am pretty happy. My only beef is they are a bit bulky feeling at times (hence why I want to go to a 11" wide model now). I would use them again, but only in a 11" width.

Glove/Blocker 11.8 custom made to match the pads (didn't get his gloves, just pads)

-I love the blocker, it's thin profile, good hand positioning, TARMAC in the palm, overall, well balanced with great protection and feel. Little to no wear at all also after 1 season of use.

-The glove is another storey. After using it now for 1 full season, I don't really like it at all. I find it to long and narrow (if prefer a more traditional style glove, shorter and fatter). The protection is good, but it's just not for me.

Set # 2 - 9.8 Prodigy pro
-Pads are '06 model, 12" wide. Overall, I love the design of the pads (the shape and the calf wedge in particular), but they were simply too short. I have used them like 10 times, and like how they rotate and feel on my legs (more manouverability than my 11.8's). Can't comment on durability as I haven't used them enough, but they show no signs of wear right now.

-Glove ('07 model) - I love this glove, totally more my style. Short, fat, great great protection (no stingers in the 3x i used it). TARMAC in the palm is kinda neat too. Feels awesome on my hand, sad to part with it in fact!

-Blocker -I love the size of this piece. Good protection, nice feel, but not quite as manouverable as the 11.8.

Just wanted to add, after going back to my 11.8 gear on Tuesday night, so that I don't put any wear on the 9.8 gear as I am selling it, man do I HATE the 11.8 glove! Like the pads, but the glove is terrible.

I didn't realize, until after using my new 9.8 glove 3 times, that after I think around 1 full season of use that the palm padding in the 11.8 is crap. I got 2 stingers on Tuesday.

I can't remember what it felt like new, but it either had minimal padding to begin with, or it has broken down quite a bit since new (the glove appears to be in good shape and isn't really overlly worn out or anything leading me to believe it was this way from the beginning).

961...gee like you would have ordered some other kind of colors. Rolling Eyes
we would have banned you for being a poser if you had.

looking forward to thoughts on the thigh wrap vs boards, I have recently gone back to the thigh wraps to give them another go around before my season starts up. made some adjustments and ill post my thoughts my later after I work them some more, but looking forward to hearing yours esp since those are an over the pant, which i have read some thoughts both ways.
I have to admit...and be real honest. I had figured that you would have been able to hang in there a bit longer and get the Smiths this year....but I bet if you go for them this year you wont loose to much on the rx7 as those a good selling pad right now.
CONGRATS!
If I were decieding between the RBK turko 8k and the Rx7 sets it would be tough call for me, what all were you considering at the time? TPS?

hey, ive never tried the RX's, im oredering them tomorrow Very Happy .

but i have tried on RBK's, Vahguns(not Velocities thoguh), and itech. i didnt like the design on the RBK's, the pre-curved face. i could barley move in the vahguns and they had like 4 knee stacks, and i didnt like the butterfly. the itechs were just comfy from the start.

have yet to try TPS, but ill be willing to bet there like RBK's, and the new bauers

I took off the thigh boards on mine, there was really no point to them. They never got hit. There's no point to the wraps or boards.

Hey, thx.

I was considering The RBK 8Ks, The RX7's, and the R8 pads. The reason i didnt go with the R8 was because they were a little to much for the whole set, and i thought i might as well have just got the smiths. But the reason i didnt get the smiths, was because i didnt have enough money saved for the whole set, i had enough for the pads, but not all together, and i didnt want to get the pads, and not the gloves. And the rbk 8k's didnt have great colors, and i knew that rbk was stiff as hell. And didnt want the turco break. So i decided to just go with the Itechs. Hope they turn out to be a great buy.

you know what, back when I was looking at the 8ks I loved them, they are stiff and that is why I was going to go for the 8k turko breaks before I decieded to go with simmons 994s.
There are 4 goalies here that are playing in new Rx pads all are in HS two are wearing rx9s in boston colors...one has them as boston one has them in reverse and two are wearing the rx7s....have to say I think your going to realy like them based on what you wrote you liked and dislliked about the RBKs.
how much longer till they arrive.....
good to see another "matching set " guy Wink
