Well, i'm still in that new pad delema and my dad agreed that the BAUER ONE55 were not the best pad he can get for me. But, since i only play house league i don't think $1700 vaughn Velo's are either. I want brand new pads as used ones never appeal to me. So, i was on HOCKEY LIFE website with my dad, and we were looking at the cheaper version of the Vaughn Velo's. Any reviews?

Probably the best Chinese made pad you can buy.

If you want pro quality, brand name, brand new without the huge price tag why not look at Smith, Battram, Simmons, etc?

Heck, with Simmons you have the same graphics for a fraction of the cost ($840 vs $1525).

I would, but i'm really looking at the vaughn line. I LOVE these pads because i've tried both expensive and cheap, and they feel the same, awesomely comfertable. I jusy want to know if their reliable.

If you are looking at anything outside of the 7300/7500/7700 in the velo series you are going to have reliability or performance issues as the pads are not made from the same quality materials or craftsmanship.

There are reviews out there if you look (GSBB is a good reference) that talk either of the pad wearing quickly, or (mainly the gloves) lacking adequate protection and being full of stingers.

They are cheaper for a reason.

I recommend Simmons because they modeled the Ultra Light series directly off the Velo series but you still get solid construction. Smith and Battram will both work with you on mods and whatever you need to make the pad fit how you want it to.

All reviews I have seen of the cheaper models from Vaughn and RBk will have you regretting the purchase with a season to a season and a half of buying. Those reviews of people loving the pad are either few and far between or are done by people who havent really worn the pads yet (ie out of box reviews).

My .02¢

Or just buy used off Ebay like I did.

I got my Xwing 12.8 pads in almost perfect condition for $500.

Well, i plan on buying the VELO's cheaper line pads 9because their half the price) but the store i want to buy from does not have the lower quality catcher. It has the lower quality blocker. Well, i'm just trying to dim things down as the price for all the things i want is around $2000. By Christmas i need a whole new arsonal of equipment but we don't have the money to get it by the start of the hockey season. So other then helmet/pads (well, as much as i can with reliability)/gloves i'm trying to cheap out on everything. I'll talk with my dad about SMITH/SIMMONS and i'll take a look at a few off the internet but thats the best i can do for now.

Yeah, we know.

If you aren't playing anything above AA, then these pads should be fine. These pads would obviously wear faster, and get more stingers if you are playing adult league, or pick up with former Junior A or OHL players. I think the pads you are looking for are perfect for your situation.

Thanks, thats a big help. I should make a list of what i want to get and maybe you guys can comment. The only problem is i won't get all of it, even though it is all needed. Actually, i'll do it right now:

-NME7 Silver Flame mask fit 2
-Vaughn Velocity VPG7400 pads
-Vaughn Velocity T7407 trapper
-Vaughn Velocity 7400 blocker
-NIKE BAUER ONE55 Goalie Pants.

Thats basically it for this year, maybe a stick or dangler too, but those i can probably wait for. So, any comments or questions are even reviews on these would be greatly appreciated.

BTW: All of these will most likely be in black white and silver.

Uncalled for considering I always offer multiple suggestions and not just the company I wear; typically I suggest other companies before Simmons. I support a lot of the smaller brands because I think it is insane what companies like RBK and Vaughn charge for their gear considering equal quality and performance can be found at half the cost.

I specifically mention them (Simmons) because they have a whole line of pads cloned off the Vaughn Velo line which is what he is specifically looking for.

I offer my opinions, feel free to offer yours, but dont be a dick.

By the way, The_Goalie_94, im going and deleting all of your previous threads that are the same as this one. Are you going to stick with this one now? Or will there be 3 more threads asking for everyones opinion?

Yeah, sorry about that. I will stick to this one.

And nothing negative about SIMMONS, but i will have to say no to them. I will tell when i have more time on my hands.

Just curious.
1. What's your budget?
2. House league at what level (squirt, peewee, midget)?
3. What were your previous pads?
