2 questions here:
1) How often do you sharpen?
2) What is your preference for your ROH, (radius of hollow)?
I sharpen about once every 2-3 weeks with a 3/4" hollow. This seems to work pretty good for me.
What do you think?

1)every 6-10 on ice sessions depending on how they feel during the latter portion of their use.
2)1/2" cut, originating from an inline hockey background, it gives a similar feel and still allows me to shuffle comfortably. _________________ Itech X-Wing Pro C/A

I think I need new skates because I've found I need to get them sharpened before every game @1/2". My skate blade seem to dull very fast. Maybe I should try 3/8". _________________ Vaughn 36" V3 Leg Pads (Black, Silver and White)

1) Whenever my skates start to get dull, once a month for sure - but if I'm on the ice more than usual, I've had times when I get it sharpened once every 2 weeks.
2) Whatever they normally do, I'll ask them next time I'm in. |

1)Once a week or when I have money
2)3/4 but I think I'm switching to a 5/8...so long as I never have to play in BGSU rink again...that ice was horrid. |

I don't sharpen mine enough... but I play infrequently.
1" ROH, which is the only way I've ever had my skates done... at the recommendation of the pro-shop guy who was an old school goalie. Still have it written on the underside of my skate as a reminder.
After reading around, I'm half tempted to try a different radius though. I'm aggressive out of my crease and like moving around. Might have better luck with a deeper hollow.
Wish I could find a place near me worth a damn to sharpen. _________________ -Q

If you try going sharper, go up in small incriments. That way you know whats just right and whats too sharp. Deeper hollows also improve movement when you are in your butterfly, and prevents blow-outs. _________________

I'm definitely going to try it now. I've always played more of a hybrid style instead of strict butterfly. This should be interesting. _________________ -Q

| Just to update. I now get a 5/8 cut every other week. Should get it every week because I end up kicking the post a lot, but hey...it's $6 to get them sharpened and I don't play any really competitive hockey, or even in a league for that matter, so I don't see the point in doing it more frequently. |

3$ for me, and during the season I got it for free. Although I now need new runners, not even a full season out of these ones _________________

Yeah, if the people working in the pro shop flirted with me, I'd have to puke. It's all men in our pro shop. Maybe I'll get lucky when I come to Canada...even though I don't look like Dane Cook. |
