Am I theonly one who likes to go post to post in half dull skates? I sharpen at least 3-4 times a season, Depending on if i nick my skates off the post. I tried a "GOALIE-CUT" at HOCKEY LIFE and i skated on the ice and fell. It was way too sharp. Well, i geuss thats just me getting used to dull skates. I can still push side-to-side in the butterfly quite nice _________________

wow. I get 5/8 like twice a season. Unless I happen to have a little extra cash, then I might get them more often. ...mebee sharpening a little more would help my slide push-offs |

I recently changed over to 1" and it's worked out pretty well so far. I noticed that I have to sharpen them more frequently but they skate well so I can't complain. I think I might try 1" full cut next time with 5/8" on the front two inches of the blade next time, just for an extra edge on toe maneuvers. _________________ Itech X-Wing Pro C/A

Hi,
I like my skates at a 1" hollow. I have a question though:
After I sharpen and then play a game, the skates still feel as sharp as I like them when I leave the ice. But the next time I get on, they are much more dull even though they haven't had any use.
I was wondering what causes this and how I can prevent it? I am thinking it might be oxidation due to moisture left on the skate, but I'm not sure.
Cheers

Well that seems strange, but you should make sure they are bone dry when you're done with them. I got yelled at by the skate guy. |

I have been gone from the ultra dull to sharp, to dull and back to sharp.
Why sharp and the term is realitive for the goalie based on the ice conditions the size of the goalie, style and skill.
I firmly believe that your more agressive goales and more modern bfly goalies will need to have a sharp skate and stronger skating abilites for the style of play.
the transition takes some getting used to, but once adapted to the sharper skate, and feeling the results I think its pretty clear that again while sharp is a realitive term that sharp is the way to play.
I am 6'3" 265lbs in good shape and have dropped down to a 1/2 _________________

| I'm 6'2, 180. Play pretty aggressive, just switched to a 7/8". My old "goalie cut" was a hack job that turned out to be a 5/8". Just about tore my ankles off. Loving the 7/8". 10 games and they're just starting to get a little loose. |
