Hey B1otter.
Sadly 34's are still on the larger side for me to handle. I have been to a store in the city and they sized me up, he was saying that 33's are possible, but 32's are my idea size. I have the atk of 16, and as I am new to goalie I dont really want to work with more pad than I need till I know how to use them. If that makes sense! lol |

| ATK of 16 and only 32'"s? Jeez. Personal preference I guess... but my ATK is 16.5 and I'm in 34 + 1s and they fit me fine. Ideal would be 33 + 1 though. |

Best bet is to go to the makers websites and see what guidelines they give... actually best bet is to try the pads on at a store but beyond that measure via the sites.
For example, in Reebok and Simmons I am a 34" pad dead on.
For Vaughn I am a 35-36" pad.
My ATK is 17.5" so I could see where in RBKs (and Simmons as they use the same sizing apparently) you'd be sitting in a 32" pad with a 16" ATK... with Vaughn you'd be sitting probably in a 34".
Vaughn Measuring is:
a) Floor to middle of knee
b) Middle of Knee to desired thigh rise location (typically 8-9 inches)
c) Skate size * .75 (only go up to 10 in skate size)
Then it is a+b+c = pad size. _________________ you're only as good as your last save

No worries man. Just trying to see if I could help you out there. I really am not trying to sell them, as I'll use them for outdoor this winter, but I saw that you might be in good need of them, so that's why I offered them up for you! Good luck with your search! _________________ 6'1" 185 lbs.

Cheers for the comments and advice, always welcomed!!
I bought pair of Vaughn V2's. they feel great on, easy to move in, skate is easy, slide is getting there.
They have thigh boards on them, so find it a little difficult to close the 5hole, although i have checked and a puck cant get under the 5hole as the boards close the gap on the ice. |

Congrats on the pads! The V2's are a great pad.
With those thigh boards, are you wearing them under your pants? that's where they should be worn, not over. That may be why you feel that your 5 hole is hard to seal up. _________________ 6'1" 185 lbs.

| Thigh boards can be worn both inside and outside your pants. Most goalie pants are large enough to accommodate either so it's really a matter of personal preference. |

The thigh boards are attatched to the top of the pad by previous owner. He was an old timer, so prob didnt do much in the way of butterfly, so he may not of noticed not being able to close the 5 hole properly.
I may take them off and attatch them to my shorts, not 100% sure on that one yet.
I reckon so much in this position is down to personal preference, so what works for A might not work for b, and then again for c etc etc. I will have to wait till i get into more game situations and see if the closure I get is adequate!
Do you guys have any advice on sticks?? I really dont want to buy RBK or Bauer. So have been looking at Sher, Vaughn, Warrior or Montreal's but there is soo much based on preference that I dont know where to begin.
Also if there is anyone in Canada reading this thread, do you knwo where to buy those dry fit tops witht the padded chest?
Cheers |

| Personally, I love my Sherwood and am a full supporter of wooden sticks. I switched back to my One75 composite for a practice and it actually felt heavier, although that could just be a mind thing. |

| Yeah I am def after a woody as opposed to composite! More expensive and more stick than I need for now!!! |

Warrior Fortress composite-$165 CDN
Reebok 6k wood with composite overlay-$100 CDN
For the extra $65 I'll take the composite.
As for the sweat-wicking tops with padding, I'd check Hockey Life, Source for Sports and possibly SportChek, although I don't think they carry it. |

| Oh, and a little fun fact...Montreal is Warrior. They bought them out I believe a year or two ago and they're currently producing under both names. The higher end sticks tend to fall under the Warrior nameplate though. |

Speaking of warrior, wait till you see their pads, glove, and blocker set. |
