Or better yet... don't do it?

(Jeez, what a foreign and novel concept!)

its called buckets andgloves.. but if another goalie wants to fight you, you should do it. Even if your gonna get messed up, atleast you wont be remembered as the guy who backed down. and its not like your gonna get put into a coma, at the most your going to get a black eye, or if your opponent is enough of an idiot to keep hitting you while your down, you might (rarely) get a concussion.

pros to fighting: get your team pumped up
Get a cool black eye/scar
look hard as **** in front of hot girls (if there are any)

Cons to fighting: getting (slightly) injured
getting suspended

In case you haven't realized it yet, I'm one of the main girls on the forum. And if I saw players fighting I think they're just being idiots because of the suspensions. I'd have a ton more respect for the goalie who backs down and stays in the game to collect the W for their team. Look hard as ****? What the hell are you trying to get at??? You could look hard as **** by driving really fast down a residential street. Does NOT mean you'll get all the girls' attention. You really are ignorant if you think that's all they go for... OH GOODNESS ME! I *love* dating guys who look like THEY'VE gotten the shit beat out of them. Rolling Eyes

I STILL fail to see why this would be worth it in any way... fight for "fun", get suspended and not be able to play in the next 2-3 games? Wow, I really must be insane to think some people would rather play than fight! Rolling Eyes

Seriously? You make me lose hope that males have any brains at all. Thank god there's other guys on the forum that can easily disprove that theory. Rolling Eyes

I've known a lot of "hot girls" that go to hockey games, and they think the fights are hilarious. Not something that impresses them. Just saying.

My team always gets into fights, just the gloves don't ever come off, so it's kinda gay. I'm not sure what girls think of fights though. I can't lie and say i've never wanted to fight anybody, but I don't and stay in the game, like PS said, which is the most sensible thing to do.

Puckstopper
I didn't realize you were a female; I figured it after listening to a bit of that song you had linked. I had to laugh once I read that you were in fact a girl. So what I'm wanting to know now is "have you ever been in a fight?" and if not why are you commenting in a thread asking for fight advice? I would say that you wouldn't have anything constructive to add and are only here to stir things up.
I used to enjoy getting into the odd donnybrook; but I am just a boy; you wouldn't understand Rolling Eyes

Laughing Trust me, I've been in fights. Not in hockey, but when I was younger and ignorant, I used to fight this one kid in my neighbourhood during road hockey games. I could definitely offer tips... or I could be the reasonable one and point out that there's really very little benefits to fighting in hockey at the younger levels. Even our OHL team - the players get 5 minute majors, then they're back in. Only benefit I've seen is that it gets the crowd pumped. But as far as I've seen, I don't see girls lining up to meet the fighters after the game. The fighters are always the ugliest ones... missing teeth, black eyes, etc... I'd rather go for the goal scorers or the ones who help their team. The scoreboard is where it matters.

The crowd gets pumped up, and so does your team. if a team is down 2-1 and they can't seem to get anything going, a player is going to purposefully start a fight to get his team energized. The coach is probably actually going to tell a player to go fight. No one fights for no reason.

two words: dion phaneuf. easily one of the hardest mother fuckers in the N, and he's dating elisha cuthbert. Sean avery, a pussy, but he's considered a tough guy. he dated elisha cuthbert. Moral of the story: anyone who fights and sticks up for their teammates is considered a good hocey player

99% goalie fights are just for fun

So... just for fun is a valid reason? You may want to reconsider what you're saying...

I can understand the players doing it. Especially the players who are signed/drafted specifically to fight. But we were on the topic of goalie fights specifically. The coach would tell his #1 goalie, assuming he's the one in net, to go fight and get kicked out/suspended so they can ride the #2 goalie the rest of the way? Again, doesn't seem to make sense.

Give me an example of an average guy, not in the NHL dating someone like Elisha Cuthbert.

Well first, you spelt hockey wrong. But not the point here. Yes - I agree with sticking up for your teammates. But really, you could have a 4th liner sticking up for his teammates. Doesn't automatically make him an amazing hockey player. He's still 4th line. Of course, if you think of the NHL then obviously he's still better than 99% of the population. But on average? Nah. If they were good hockey players, they'd be on the 1st or 2nd line.

Main point I was trying to make was that as a goalie, it's pointless to fight. You get suspended. You're not there to start fights to get the team pumped. You're there to stop pucks. If somebody still wants to fight, I won't stop them. But again... if the goalie from the other team came down and wanted to fight, I'd bow out and stay in the game, where I'm most productive and effective for my team.

Smart goalies don't fight. End of story. You aren't too useful to your team from the locker room, right?

like i said before, if there is a fight that escalates to the point where the other guy wants to go, do it or else everyone else on your team is gona call you a pussy behind your back. and besides, its not like you team is gonna be fucked if you get in a fight, the other goalie would just come in and replace you. if you do fight, your going to be praised by the rest of your team. i'd rather have that.

Well considering you're on a HOCKEY forum and you're spelling hockey wrong... Rolling Eyes

And if the other goalie is really bad? If he's the #1 goalie, they're winning a game 2-1, he fights, the other goalie comes in, and they lose? Yeah, I can see how he would be praised for being a complete idiot.

Not just the topic over all of goalie fights here PS, this was a specific question, by a kid. Not some one playing in the O, or the AAHl (none of those players would ever ask)
The reality on fighting is at this kids age is, A it is not allowed, B serves no purpose and has been for all intensive purposes removed from the game. For good reason.
LAstly you either can fight well or not and then learn. You can not read a web site and become some kind of enforcer.

Well, you could always be a brawler when Daddy (Patrick Roy) sends you (Jonathon) from one end to the other to beat up some kid for no reason. But there's always that cumbersome arrest and guilty plea. Yeah, real tough guy helping his team.

Look, the rest of the world is starting to catch up w/ the felonies that were (emphasis added to "were") committed on the pond. Nowdays, all you need is a prosecutor looking to make a name for himself/herself. Want to play fisticuffs? There's always the boxing ring or the octagon.

Like Returning2 above says, for a kid, there's no place for it.
