For all you goalies out there, if you haven't at least dabbled in yoga, I'd strongly recommend it. I can't think of any regimen of stretching exercises that are more beneficial to the specific flexibility requirements of ice hockey goalkeepers.

My ladyfriend got me interested in this yoga class she goes to a few times a week. The class is an hour and a half of yoga in a room that's heated to 110°F. By ten minutes in you're sweating the way you would after an intense hour on the ice, and by thirty minutes in it's more like a drug trip. But when all is said and done you feel about ten years younger, in terms of how healthy your body feels. And you get super flexible and centered and stuff. It's amazing.

what you/your ladyfriend are doing is called Bikram Yoga or "Hot Yoga"
I watched this special about it that had Tim Thomas and Jeff Lerg talking about how it helped their game.
Apparently it helps you with lots of muscle control.
My cousin's trying to get me into it, and it helps because the yoga place is right next to my local hockey shop.

Haha
Players Bench-Richardson.

I know you play for Mesquite. We established that awhile ago. The place is literally right next door to Players Bench on Campbell Road.

Yeah, I wasn't sure if you were talking about Perani's maybe. I prefer Perani's but then again it isn't really local to either of us.

They had a much better selection of goalie stuff last time I was there, you should check it out next time you have to make a trip up to Euless, it's not too far from the rink.

Yes, I'm aware of that. Just wasn't sure if Bikram was the name of the yoga style or if it was unique to the particular establishment.

Bish00: (1) no meditation involved in Bikram yoga, as such, but believe me when you're in there doing it you're asking yourself some pretty heavy questions, because you realise you're doing mindnumbing stretches in insane heat and humidity. (2) come on, we're goalies. we should be willing to spend a little money to invest in our craft. yoga WILL improve your game. incidentally, i'm flat broke.

I would agree... but hockey isn't my life. I like to hang out with my friends and spend money on other things than hockey. I'm not a completely dedicated goalie.
