Running is key. Try riding your bike a couple of miles every second day. The most basic things will help you quite a bit. _________________

Intensity is the key. Steady state training will not do much to change your body composition. You need to rely on interval training, like a 20-30 second sprint (these can be on the treadmill, bike, stairclimber or running outdoors) followed by light intensity for 60 seconds. Repeat for 15-20 minutes. Make sure you complete a thorough warm-up prior to your intervals.
Complete these intervals 3 times per week and of course, look for places where you can clean up your nutrition. Nutrition is the key!
Hope this helps.
Cheers,

Hi,
Since weight loss is such a big topic I will give you just a couple simple tips and obviously you know that fast food and sweets make you gain weight.
So, here are a few tips:
- Know what you are eating and how much (read the labels that tell what it is made out of and nutritional facts)
- Do conditioning training in the morning before eathing anything. Just drink plain water. Your body has to use fat as fuel since you have not eaten in 10 hours.
- Eat protein in the evening and most of the carbs during day.
- Lot of vegetables
- If you are not doing some brutal hard core stuff skip a meal before the exercise so your body will use more its fat.

The crease drill focuses on explosive movements that make a save against plays across the crease. Goalie cuts through the middle of the net to the middle of the top of the crease and sets to evaluate shooter options. Next, he t-pushes to the corner to the top of the crease on the opposite side he started from, sets feet, and evaluates options. Now, he moves back to the middle of the top of the crease and then he runs the same pattern on the side he started from. Finally, he shuffles back to the post, sets feet, and evaluates before completing a butterfly slide across the goal line. After recovering, run the drill from the opposite side.

If you put on some LBs this past summer than perhaps you should get to the root of the problem. Were you bored? Nothing better to do?
If you are serious about being a goalie and sticking to it than you should realize that perhaps its a year round training cycle you should be on. Did you go out and run or work out during the off season?
Running 2 miles will do you wonders first thing in the morning. Adding some sprints here and there will help improve your stamina, but you cant really do anything unless you address your food intake.
Are you eating like you run 10 miles a day and have stamina, or are you eating like you have nothing better to do. I only speak from experience. I was 330 pounds at one point in my life. I moved like a turd, slow! I tried to play hockey and the only thing I could do was just stand there and fake the funk.
Then I got serious, started riding my bike and eating right. There were other demons in my life that was causing me to overeat and you could also be in that boat. Make sure you arent eating because of stress, or other issues, that is the real reason we put on weight most times. Its human nature. Discipline, healty eating, and exercise are key to what happens to you on the ice. There are some other really good posts on here but perhaps you have something else you need to address, just me thinking outside the box.
By the way I got down to 175 and have never felt better! _________________ Ovaldson, Leif D
