Wha do you do for off ice training or dryland? Do you have certain drills or do you just run or lift?

On the rare occassion that we have no where to practice or that me and my friends practice, we just really play street hockey. No particular methods are used, nor do we run drills.

well most of the time I really do not do any drills off ice, as it is difficult for me to get into that way. I do like to practice a lot off ice but me and my friends just really do that by playing street hockey.

Off season I do what what they say you never should. I jog... I know you're suposed to do anerobic excersize, but I find jogging (slowly for long distances) helps me maintain my endurance so I don't get tired halfway through a game, also helps my lung capacity.

I like to bike or rollerskate to keep my endurance up. My knees don't like running.

Standing long jumps really help with those explosive leg movements.

I like to bike or jog. Whichever one I'm doing, I'll just take a decent pace, but every couple minutes I'll do a sprint for about 30 seconds. I find this helps me alot. The regular pace helps my endurance and throwing the sprints in gets me ready for penalties or other times in the game when the other team is really pouring it on.

since i play ice along with street and dek i can say that there are many drills you can do on dry. you can do up-downs, back-ups(my little creation ,where you lay flat on your back than someone blows a whistle you must get up within one second and stop the shot, then repeat) jogging really helps, wind sprints too,and finally just playing the game on dryland

I lift durring the season and off season, and durring the season and off season, the gym where I lift is at the fairgrounds, and around the 1mile track there are posts spaced about 4ft apart for about 1/8 of a mile, so I'll zig-zag between them to the middle (1/16 mile), then sprint down to the consession stand with is about another 1/8 mile, and then sprint back, then I will finish the remaining 1/16 mile of zig-zags, and then sprint the 1/8 of a mile back to the start.. Usually 1 or two of those are all you nee each workout.

Ping-pong is great for increasing hand-eye cordination and reflex.

Playing catch with a baseball glove helps my glove hand, but it also makes me wanna reach down for low-shots haha.

Put your pads on and your baseball glove. That way you can go down to block the low ones. Laughing

I use the G1 extreme slideboard both during the season and offseason for off ice training along with weight training for conditioning. I like the G1 because I can put on the pads and practice crease movement and butterfly slides or take off the pads and just get a really good aerobic workout. It's also great for rehabbing the bad knees and everything helps at 44 years old.
