make sure you transfer the weight froom your push leg to the leg that is on the side you are sliding to... otherwise, you might end up with a big space under the leg where you are sliding to...
in otherwords, if you are sliding from left to right, if you dont transfer the weight, your right pad will stay above the ice too long, and a lot of goals will be put in under it, defeating the purpose of sliding over there... kinda like these pictures

this is what i mean... his weight is still leaning left, so his right pad is up

this one, hes going left to rite also, but his weight is being transferred to his right pad, and it is down

yeah, squats and running.

but i question if the benefiets of running overcome the stress of so much pounding on your knees. but it is a very good workout, though, even though i hate running Laughing

Heh, yah I hear you on that. I actually enjoy running, but I'm 35 now and I don't find it great on the knees. It's great for building ankle strength though!

I'll check that out this weekend for sure. I can't watch it at work, and I've rarely been in front of the computer all week. It's been great weather so I've been out on my bike.

yea thats a butterfly slide and he is referring to your Power leg...the key is practice....and if you can try to unload your down leg with out breaking the ice seal...ie get as much weight off that slide leg as you can making the push easier.

Yup

And one other thing to remember when doing a butterfly slide is to follow the puck with your eyes/head first, pivot so that you'll be square to the shot once you get in position, and then push.

That following the puck concept is an interesting one. I've been trying something I learned from the Wogtech videos starting last game - rather than follow the puck gradually - quickly judge exactly where you want to go and then rotate your body into that position, rather than lets say gradually follow the puck.

It's not something you can do all the time, more often only when the puck is moving pretty fast - but Wogtech makes the point that while it looks like you're moving away from the puck, what you are actually doing is getting into position much more quickly to make the save.

That video makes me want to go outside and train my a$$ off. But I've already done my running for the day so I'm exhausted. Weight training later though.

Yah that's good advice, I use this as well, cause if there is a pass to a guy all alone u know where that puck is going so just get to that place before the puck does and u'll be set
