So after doing it for a week straight (note to self - don't do that... I had to take 3 days off because my arms were so sore. Apparently didn't give them enough recovery time), I found it's really beneficial so I ordered it.
DVDs came in last Friday, and it's awesome. Much better to follow on the TV rather than the computer screen. |

| arth i'm sorry, but you are way off on this one. the "pain" you feel is your muscle fibers tearing, which is essential for gaining strength and size. Recovery time is what is important after you train hard. joint and bone pain is completely different from muscular pain. If you do not feel any pain you are doing nothing. Google the SAID principle. specific adaptation through imposed demands. it explains muscle and strength gains. BTW i'm a kinesiology major so i'm not a complete idiot btw lol. |

I have to agree with the people that disagree with Arth. Nothing personal - but in my experience, you need to get to a certain pain level in order to get past it.
I remember when I was younger I was working hard to achieve a certain level of performance. I'd stop when I started to feel a little uncomfortable, and never made it to the next level until I broke through. I hurt, it wasn't pretty... but eventually I made further and further.
Finally I got to the point of 100 wings. Getting there took dedication and perseverance, but once I consciously got past the 50 mark, then I know what I had to do to get to 100. _________________ random spelling mistakes added on purpose to annoy those that are annoyed by it. |

Pain=failure. Muscle FAILURE is bad.
You all seem to mistake the burn that is required which is your muscles breaking down and rebuilding with pain. They're two totally different things. I don't consider burn to be pain. I consider pain such as sprains, strains and tears to be pain.
My legs are solid muscle from playing goal and I've yet to feel "pain" when building them up. They've been sore, or burned occasionally while playing, but never painful...and yet they're still solid muscle. Explain that one Mr. Kinesiologist. |

| arth, we obviously have different thoughts on pain. if pain to you is strains and tears etc. then yes you are right that is not good. Muscular failure is important. When lifting, you are "tearing" your muscles. Your recovery time is when your body repairs itself, adapting the muscles used so that it can handle the heavy load you put them through. Pain to me is pushing myself through my last working set for whatever given exercise, its the pain of the muscle contraction that i feel. If i feel "discomfort" in a ligament or joint, then i know to stop because it is not a natural feel when in the gym. we just had different defonitions is all |

| Yes because I believe failure=strain/sprain/tear. Burn is what you feel when you push your body to it's limits and the muscles are breaking down. |

I've gotta say that was a genius comeback. Everybody disagreed, so he essentially said "Well, by pain I meant you actually take injury from it," and cited specific injuries. Genius move, to be blunt, because anybody who says "No you're still wrong, a broken leg is a good thing" is obviously on the losing end of the stick... _________________ Think YOUR goaltending is bad?
