I kind of watched it before, but it was in a half paying attention way. Like when you read a chapter in a book and you have no idea what you just read

I watched it again, it did make sense. You can just keep your hand in front of you and it would be more natural to stop it than any other way, so you don't really get jammed on those shots.

Hey thanks everyone...

texas, good advice but i do have one question. How long should i keep my mouth shut? I did what the guy told me for about a week and was consitently gettin beat high. I don't want to piss him off or anything but whenever I go back to this fingers up thing I find it easier and more natural to make glove saves, esp up high. So how long should I jus shut up and do what he tells me?[/quote]

Hey Bish, I see where you are coming from. I am the same way when it comes to listening to someone spout off the same bullshit all the time. I don't know, maybe tell him that what he is telling you is messing up your game. I mean, I am sure that you are more comfortable playing the way that you have been, correct?? And, no, you don't want to piss him off, because then you will be labelled with having a bad attitude. I mean, honestly, how is your catcher hand?? Is it good and fast?? I mean, can you react and snag a puck that is going up and over and out to the side? I mean, he is not trying to change you doing something to possibly help you to get better with that certain aspect of your game, is he?? I mean, I play glove down, while in my stance/on my feet, because, I have a good glove hand. It is one of my strengths as a goalie. But, when I am down in say, the V-fly, hugging the post or something, I will put my catcher up, because most shooters are going to try to go up high, when you are down. But, I don't play glove up or glove down. I am kind of in the middle. I don't know, you are in a tough position. Try your best and like I said, if you have tried it out and it doesn't work for your style of play, you need to let him know. Tell him that is more natural to do it your way(glove up). It may take sitting down with your head coach and talking about it.

haha yah i see what your sayin here, but wut I aint so sure bout is that even if i say how he's ruining my game, that'll piss him off. what if he starts goin on how stupid that is....but we could speculate for the entire year...i guess i should actually do somethin eh? lol...yes i am way more comfortable doin things the way i normally do...I'd like some tips and stuff but not some guy screamin at me bout my fricken glove all day when it's workin better than his way....I'd say I have a decent glove hand but i have trouble on up high shots. which is why i was lookin around for a solution to that, and found this. V-fly...i'm assumin that's what i like to call the VH? alright i'll have to talk to him and i'll let u guys know how it went....thanks again.

Good luck Bish. Yeah, a coach is supposed to be supportive and encourage.
Also, if ain't broke, don't fix it. He shouldn't try to change something if it is already working. Cool

Our goalie coach is cool. He shows ua what he would od in a situation, and then he says " I'm just showing you what I believe is the best thing to do, if it don't work for you, don't do it" But what he says is mainly what I'd do.

The first thing we did, though, he had us get on the post as if a guy with the puck was on the line, so I VH'd, and he said I shouldn't. Then I realized he meant if someone was WRAPING around the net. Laughing

And the one off day he had, it just happened to be one of the most important games of his career.
