what do you guys do off-ice to build up your legs?
i was thinkin i could put weights on my ankles every time im just in my house. then i guess i could do squats, jumping, and a lot of stretching. what do u guys do? i could use some ideas

my biggest problems include getting tired really fast (because the new leg pads r huge) and limited mobility probably cus of poor leg muscle and poor flexibility and just exhaustion lol.

Stairs, lunges, squats... great ways to improve leg muscle.

i just play on two teams, and my legs have built up from playing a minimum of 2 games a week. it's surprising in 10 months how strong my legs have gotten.

Uh, combine puckstopper's and montreal's. Running and jogging are good for endurance (staying the game and not getting tired) and sqauts and lunges are for power (getting up in one hop and getting more power in your slides).

Weight lifting will also help you out. Mainly in the chest/abs area. You need a strong core.

If you've got the money, join a gym and use the treadmill and weight machines. If not, you can still do squats, lunges, and other exercises at home with a pair of dumbbells. Jogging is great for stamina and building up your calves. Jumping rope, swimming, and hiking are also good workouts. Don't forget to maintain your flexibility too. Practicing Yoga and/or Pilates is a good way to stay limber. I'm not sure putting weights around your ankles is a great idea, though... You're more likely to fall and hurt yourself than anything else.

Cross fit owns me lol. It's probably the best all around work out I've ever done.

for power in your legs to get across the net... my buddy that works out constantly and is that gymrat fitness freak kind of person told me to do squats. you can jog for endurance, and I like to do yoga for muscle control and flexibility. I also do some more specific stretches that aren't included in the yoga session i do.

This should burn your legs a little:

Be sure to be warmed up first though! Some knees might not like this stuff.

I know he's a football player but they have massive legs, especially this guy. Do what LT did. To build up his legs he would run up and down a hill in his backyard.

So pretty much running stairs or a hill for prolonged periods of time. But it seems like you don't have much stamina to begin with so start off in little increments and work your way up to longer periods of time.

I jog, bike, play some softball and, of course, play hockey all summer. It's great living in a city that keeps the ice in year round. Very Happy
