I was always under the following impression:
A team dresses 20 players. #1 was reserved for the starting goalie, #20 for the backup. As for the numbers in between, the lower numbers were for defense, and the higher numbers for the forwards.
I don't know where I got this information - maybe I was watching a Tretiak biography or something. I'm certainly not insisting it's accurate, though. |

I always was #29 but since i've started ice hockey i got stuck with #33 since they didn't have my usual. I picked #29 since i was a kid because Felix Potvin was my hero... not because i'm a toronto fan... but because i thought he had mad skills. _________________ Itech X-Wing Pro C/A
