The skates are from Torspo. They were super cheap, but as far as I can tell they work great. They're all pimped out too, with chromed tuuks and carbon fibre looking accents on the boot! |
Are you still liking your Torspo skates?? I'm looking at two models. The Torspo Sweet 150 with the blue tuuk holders and the Torspo Surge 221's with the chrome holders.
Do yours run the same as your shoe size? I've heard that the Sweet line runs to the shoe size and the Surge line runs a half size under. _________________

Sorry I was so late to see this! We've had some decent weather, the frost is finally out of the ground, and I've been working on a some immediate landscaping needs for the past week.
I hope your order works out! Feel free to send me a pm anytime. _________________

No worries Gonz. I got mine a 1/2 size smaller then my shoe size and they're pretty much a perfect fit. Lucky for me the guy that runs the Ebay store I got them off of also wears a size 9 shoe so the fitting was easy. _________________

Necro-post? Sure it is! But I want to brag about my stuff!
No helmet yet, but soon an Easton. When I first started getting gear this year I bought it from a pro shop that had went out of bussiness a couple years ago. New but older stuff at good prices with tags still on them. I got Jofa shoulder pads ($35), Bauer elbow (~$25), CCM Black practice jersey ($10), Easton pants ($80), CCM shin (~$20), CCM Socks, ($10) and I got it all for.......$80! Woot!
I have cheap RBK glove just to get out and practice with. My stick is a wooder RBK for street practice and a Bauer XXV that I got on sale for $75. Skates are Bauer Supreme. (The cheap $50 ones.)
I just ordered a pair of Torspo Sweet 50 chrome skates for $75 (Bday present from my wife) off of Hockey Giant. They had a huge sale. They even had my size! lol.
To the guy who also has the chrome torspo: How to they wear and tear? |

I know this isn't my gear, but have you guys noticed the new skates that some of the NHL guys are starting to wear from MLX?
Here's a pic of Malkin wearing them a few weeks ago.

Hey Gonz,
That equipment looks pretty sick. The skates look like they would probably break in half if you got a puck to one of those. Are those heavily insulated? There are some skates now that protect skaters a lot better now. |

No chance of them breaking in half. I have the Torspo Surge 221 in which the boot is made of a carbon fiber base with a hybrid carbon/Kevlar backing around a thermoplastic core that's between more hybrid carbon and Kevlar for custom forming. Basically means they're bullet proof.
The Sweet 50's of Gonz's have a Carbon fiber reinforced ABS base boot. Carbon fiber has been proven to have ten times the tensile strength of steel, resists mould and mildew, will not rot, corrode or decompose, and will not shatter. If you ask me, there's no worries about them breaking at all. In fact, they are stronger then most of the other skates on the market today.
The insulation in my 221's, as in the 50's is extremely good. A nice, thick and dense foam that heat molds to the foot. The tongue itself has about 3/4 of an inch of the same foam on the inside and is extremely protective. Since this is the only part of the skate that doesn't have the carbon and kevlar in it, I guess they decided to make it more protective that way. I've taken a few slapshots off the tongue and never felt a thing. Torspo definitely makes a top of the line skate with the emphasis being put on comfort and extreme protection. They are protective enough that I wouldn't hesitate putting them on even in nets if I didn't have goalie skates. _________________
