Calm down, do you need this? We can all say that FS's bestest hero did the best, if it gives him some sort of fulfillment... _________________

On a serious note - I didn't watch the game since I had to work, but I'll check out some of the replays and highlights and let you know who I thought was best, since I hate the Bruins and the Habs equally _________________

You can't gauge who was the best goalie in an all star game.....they all faced the best hockey players in the world with little to no defence. Sure, Thomas made some amazing saves. Lunging across the net to make a save looks phenomenol.....of course, being in position to make the save is just as good, it just doesn't look as good. Although he didn't face as many shots as Thomas, Luongo played just as well. Backstrom allowed one more goal, but faced the same amount of shots as Thomas and played very well too. Price didn't have to make as many saves, but he made some very nice ones.
The big thing here is..........wait for it....wait for it.......the all star game is a glorified pick up hockey game. No defense and a lot of breakaways, 2-0's, 2-1's, 3-0's and 3-1's.
So, the question. Was Thomas the best goalie in the all star game? No
Was he one of the best? For sure. Although he's a goalie that sometimes looks sloppy and is often out of position for second shots, his "never give up" attitude is what got him in the all star game and is also what helped him make a couple phenomal saves. _________________

That, or his league leading save percentage is what got him in.
If Thomas was not the best I would like to know who was. |
