I posted this over on GSBB but thought I would post it here too for opinions.
Like many I really like the Vaughn outlined logo, but I had some issues with some of the lines. I hated the oven mit look of the glove, I didnt like how the right pad had an odd shape to it, the CA lines on the left made him look fat, the the top of the left leg pad extended to far up for my tastes, the left foot was to big, and there were some additional lines I removed and some missing ones I added.
With all of that said and done I am looking at my pretty much final version of the design but am hung up on lines I had added for the blocker. There are four versions below, please vote/comment on which you would like the best.
Also, as a note, all lines will be black, the images have some grey and some black lines but the final will be all black.
Option 1:
No additional blocker lines
Option 2:
Additional vertical line on the right of the blocker
Option 3:
Additional horizontal line for the top edge of the blocker
Option 4:
Both the additional vertical and horizontal lines from the previous two options
As a reference this is the original Vaughn logo if you are trying to compare what changes I have made... some are very small changes.

Sick tattoo.
My sister wants that logo on her helmet when she gets it custom painted. Mind if she borrows that 4th design? It looks a lot better than the original. |

Personally I go for option 3. keeps the outline thing more continuous without adding anything inside the lines really (like the vertical blocker line... seems out of place). _________________ random spelling mistakes added on purpose to annoy those that are annoyed by it. |

Feel free to use any of them, glad someone else likes them too. I liked to concept behind the initial logo, it just had a lot of little things that drove me nuts. It is funny, when you look at the designs it looks like there are only 1-2 small changes but in reality the only lines I didnt change at all were the mask and the top line on the right pad (goalies left pad). Everything else has some changes to it.

Im pretty much torn equally between 2, 3, and 4... I think blank it is to much open space, and in the others every time I think Im settled on one I re-think it.
Thanks for the feedback... keep it coming _________________ you're only as good as your last save

| I'm just wondering - and I'm not sure how it would look added in - but why is there no paddle for the stick? It seems odd, but then again it might look weirder added in. |

I thought about adding it but all the sketches I put together it didnt look right. It would cross infront of the pad to much that you wouldnt be able to tell what the pad was. The kind of design it started as (wavy lines making up an outline) pretty much have you pick either the pad or the paddle).
One of the responses on the GSBB was to flare the line that makes up the top of the thigh on the goalies right leg to not make the leg look so narrow.
Thoughts? It is a minor flare but does make the thigh look thicker as it extends towards the pad from the torso. _________________ you're only as good as your last save

| I'm not trying to be an asshole I'm just sayin, I have no clue what the difference is between any of them. They all look good but maybe it's because I'm kinda tired...just seems to me like one of those "spot the difference between these two pictures" games which I utterly fail at. |

Why does age play into it? Considering the time and effort he's put into getting it exactly the way he wants, I'd say he's serious about it. I hate when people just walk in and get one for the sake of it.
I'd be tempted to get this, and not gonna lie - the thought had crossed my mind momentarily. But it was a brief thought at most.
You sound so biased against tattoos. |

I just have a horrible tattoo that I got when I was young. So I'm a little cautious when it comes to getting them. I'm not saying it's bad at all, it's fully his choice, I'm just trying to make someone think again about getting a tattoo of any sort. It's permanent.
My personal opinion about this tattoo is it's not an original. It's a slightly modified version of a very common picture/symbol. If you go to google, type in goalie, and click images, it's on the first page. Regardless of that, the concept is cool, if I came up with something to do with goaltending I might consider it as a tattoo. |

I have two tattoos as it is and have enjoyed both of them. I have a handful of things I still want to get... I have a celtic cross with family and lifelong friends initials hidden in the design i want on my back (if I can ever settle the design, this one is 100% custom so if it takes this much work for me to settle the goalie drawing imagine a cross with knotwork inside), I have one I am working on for the Hawks and I have always wanted one to show hockey but never really thought of anything that stood out for me. When I saw the Vaughn logo it jumped at me. It is a symbol I think many goalie have taken a shine to, its not a tattoo anyone can get (in terms of being a goalie), it stands out to hockey as a whole and has a nice design to it... I merely changed little things to make it suit my tastes more.
I know it isnt totally original but the small changes kind of make it my own to a degree and it brings out that hockey goalie side in body art. I dont want a simple goalie stick, I dont want the NHL logo (as Im not an NHL goalie), I dont want past teams logos because it doesnt include where I am now or where I am going... but this is a simple, tasteful design that for all intents and purposes fits nicely. The only time it would be visible is in swim trunks or the locker room.
When I will get it I dont know, it may be as soon as this off season at the end of November or it may be June or next year.... but having the design finalized frees me up to get it when I am ready and have the cash... my tattoo guy is now 45 minutes away as I have moved and arranging schedules and all makes it more difficult. _________________ you're only as good as your last save

Arth - look at the blocker in each one.
As for the tattoos - I've got 4 and want to get more. It's a matter of what, and where to get them. If society wasn't so critical about them, I'd be more than willing to get full sleeves... whether I'm a girl or not. It's unfortunate that the older generation still frowns upon tattoos even though they're becoming more and more the norm. If I wasn't going into nursing, I'd probably have plenty more. |

They are all exactly the same except the blocker lines in each picture.
One has no additional lines, one has a additional line to frame the top of the blocker, one has an additional line to frame the side of the blocker and the last one has both the top and side lines to fully frame it out. _________________ you're only as good as your last save

Thanks hawk, definitely 4 then so that it doesn't just look like a massive blob of lines. Gotta keep some order to it like Dali as opposed to say...Picasso. |

I've seen full on sleeves on female nurses. Just don't live in small town and be a nurse and you'll be fine. plus, that older generation is dying rapidly. |
