What do you take after the game to get the protein back in your body?
I play hockey and am good friends with some policemen from the local RCMP. One of them travels around to high schools with fitness experts and a doctor to talk to the athletes about steroids. It seems like some high school athletes are taking steroids after games to get their bodies feeling normal again and not all burned out. The doctor who travel with them is an expert on steroids and what proteins you need to get back in game shape again quickly. He said a glass of chocolate milk has the right proteins in it for quick recovery. In fact, it works better then any recovery steroid you can get.
I tried it last year and have been doing it every since. I tried it in a tournament I played in where my team had to play two games the same day with only 1 hour between games. I had to play both games since our team only had one goalie. Anyway, the bottom line is it works. I've never felt better or recovered quicker then when I've had a 500ml carton of brown cow right after a game.
Sorry for the long thread, but, I thought this worked so good for me I should pass it on. _________________

Sounds good, I am right in the middle of exams and I have a game tonight, so hopefully a little chocolate milk might keep me feeling good while I study. Before now, I just drank a lot of water and had a good stretch. I will post again after trying the chocolate milk.
Funny note, the rink I play in just installed a milk vending machine. I wonder if this is a coincidence or if they know the same thing as you. _________________ Size doesn't matter.

I normaly drink a glass or two of milk (sometimes i eat milk products and some fresh fruit). I am a vegetarian so milk and milk products are my only source of protein (my aunt says that's not good for me but i feel better without meat.)
(sorry for my broken english...english teachers in slovenia are worser than bad...) _________________ ***

Usually I have a Triple Whopper from Burger King, Large Onion Rings, and 2 to 6 beers, then I take a nap and feel right as rain. But then again, if I did anything healthy my body might go into shock. _________________

| I started drinking chocolate milk after games and it has become a habit. I crave teh stuff after games/practices now. I always seem to want raw top ramen along with it. Go figure. |

This is an old thread. I drink about 1 1/2 gallons of chocolate milk per week, Low Fat Nesquik. It's one of my favorite things to drink. But it isn't better than recovery steroids If that were at all true, pro athletes would be drinking chocolate milk instead of using steroids. Sorry, C-dawg, but that was a stupid thing to say...
After home games and practices I usually eat a banana and drink chocolate milk. If it's an away game more than 30 minutes away (most of them are) we just eat at a resteraunt. _________________

No, I never really eat at McDonalds unless I'm on break at work.
Usually like Ruby Tuesday's, Applebee's, the Olive Garden...Not fast food but nowhere fancy. _________________

I do not eat 8-12 hours before games. I know this isn't the sports nutritionist method, but my guts just can't handle it (please see one of my other responses in a different thread).
I do not eat afterwords if it is past 1030pm (which it usually is).
This all is very hard, I'm a grande dude and love to eat. |
