soo thought I'd try my hand at this.

Here's my gear for this season:
Pads: Smith 6000
Glove: Smith 6000
Blocker: Smith 6000
C/A: Simmons M3
Helmet: Itech Profile 8.0
Pants: Itech something?
Skates: CCM 852
Stick: Bauer one75

Only played 2 games so far, one against NCSU D2 club (my school is D3 club), and we got KILLED, 11-1. I only played 2&3, still had 5 goals scored on me, should have only been 3 though. i had 2 shots from past the red line that went in, first one i wasn't ready for, no clue what happened. 2nd time, ever seen that video of i think the minnesota goalie where the puck bounces on him? yeah.....Somehow I managed to get those out of my head and fared better the rest of the night.

Anywho, heres a video from that game

any tips/ CONSTRUCTIVE comments greatly appreciated.

CPSC, ITECH Announce Recall of Hockey Goalie Masks and Replacement Wires
WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.

Name of Products: ITECH Profile 2100, 1100 and 8.0 hockey goalie masks and ITECH RP607 and RP609 goalie mask replacement wires.

Units Sold: About 5,000.

Manufacturer: Mission-ITECH Hockey, of Kirkland, Quebec, Canada.

Hazard: The metal wire on these products could break at or near a weld point, exposing a hockey goalie to facial injuries.

Incidents/Injuries: ITECH received three reports of injuries sustained from the wire breaking at or near a weld point. The injuries included superficial facial and eye injuries.

Description: The recalled hockey goalie masks and replacement wires are non-certified models with a cat-eye design and have the word "ITECH" printed on the sides and front of the mask. The ITECH Profile 2100, 1100 and 8.0 goalie masks came in black or white. A label identifying the model and size (medium or large) is affixed to the rear crown of the helmet. In addition, the back of the helmet has a large red triangular warning label. The ITECH RP607 and RP609 replacement wires are black, white and chrome and include a unique side attachment design – they are attached to the helmet/mask by four screws and posts without the use of any additional clips.

Sold By: Sporting goods and hockey specialty stores between January 1999 and September 2004 for about $250 for the mask and about $60 for the replacement wire.

Manufactured in: Canada

Remedy: Consumers should stop using the masks and replacement wires immediately and return them to the company for a free replacement unit.

Consumer Contact: Call ITECH toll-free at (877) 832-3366 or send an e-mail to recall@itech.com

Firm's Media Contact: Randy Burns at (514) 697-9900.

I have the certified cage, no recall. Good thing too because ive taken my fair share of head shots. My cage has survived some heavy shots, including my brother who played juniors and number 21 from that video who has a shot as big as he is. although it is time for a replacement, probably a hackva once i can afford it.

honestly, they're good pads, just not for me. I don't like the knee lifts at all, and the knee pads are quite uncomfortable for me, but the pads don't fit when i don't wear them. I took off the knee lock strap, had to cut off the velcro too because it was messing up the nylon thigh strap, and its a little bit better and more comfortable. I think I would have been better off going with some newer ULs or maybe the bauer x60 series. BUT quality and protection is still amazing, obviously Pete makes great pads, just not for me.

I do love the glove and blocker, much better than my old Itech 7.8s. The palms are so soft and comfortable, and the glove broke in incredibly quickly. And the blocker hasn't started falling apart yet unlike the 7.8 where the sticting on one of the fingers came undone like the first week i had it.

Wow, 6 goals in the first period.
That video footage was good to see. The other team was moving the puck well.

All I can say is practice taking shots from the red line. It's something your teammates can work on too instead of just dumping into a corner. It worked on you, unfortunately.

Update: 2 games added, although i didn't get to play in either. which I dont understand since we still lost because the other goalie on my team is not any better than me in a game. ANYWHO, basically all I got was really pissed I didn't play.

Soo my season is basically shot right now. I haven't really played because I hurt my back/leg playing soccer so I missed the last 2 weeks, and I'm also going to miss my games this weekend because I have to go get my back looked at again... boooo.
