New guy here looking for advice. I suffered a bad loss last night where I couldnt stop anything. I do mean anything. Final score was 9 to 2. I totaly feel like I let the team down and am fightinhg the emotions pretty hard today. Any suggestions on how to deal with it and show up for the next game mentally prepared?

The bullpen was the best part of this team until the All-Star break, but no longer. Wagner, who was stout enough to be voted to the All-Star team, has three blown saves and two losses in 2 1/2 weeks. At a time when the Phillies have won 13 of 15, every wasted lead is like a left hook to the solar plexus. These blown games aren’t the knockout blows per se, but they’re the ones that sap a team’s resolve.

And the Braves, as we know, don’t give their bullpen much wiggle room. They’ve scored five runs in two games against San Fran, all on homers. They cannot drive in a run from third base, let alone second. Troy Glaus returned to the lineup and went 0-for-4. Rick Ankiel, this week’s hope, was 0-for-3 with three strikeouts and is 4-for-18 as a Brave.

I wish I could blame it on the Christmas eReader, but my evolution into schizophrenic multimedia literature butterfly started long before it landed in my lap – via iPod and Audible, Twitter and Gutenberg, and brick-like new-writing magazines that take weeks to digest. My reading has taken on a strangely driven, guilty quality, as I try to justify the cost of all those subscriptions and all that hardware by consuming fiction in an unprecedentedly multiplicitous and simultaneous way. Secretly, I long to return to a world in which I had a loving, stable relationship with one paperback at a time.
