EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) -- With one mighty heave, Tom Brady and Randy Moss took care of the record books. Now it's down to business for the unbeaten New England Patriots: stamping themselves as the greatest team in NFL history.
The Patriots completed a perfect if somewhat joyless journey through the regular season Saturday night, finishing with a remarkable 16-0 record following a thrilling 38-35 comeback victory over the New York Giants.
New England became the first NFL team since the 1972 Dolphins to win every game on the schedule, and that one was only 14-0. This victory required a comeback from a 12-point deficit engineered by the brilliant Brady, and smashed the Patriots' league mark for consecutive victories.
Validation of their inexorable march through the season can only come by adding a Super Bowl championship, their fourth of the decade. Do that and there'll be no challenge to their spot at the top.
Whooo Undefeated, first team in NFL history to go 16-0. Brady and Moss both broke records (TD Passes and TD Catches for single season). Best team in NFL history, no doubt. Brady and Moss are the best QB and WR pair ever. Now it's time to go on and win the Superbowl Can't wait. It'll be the 4th Superbowl win in 7 years. Best team in Patriots history and best team in NFL history. |

cheating does get you ahead in life after all
i doubt they make it to the super bowl. they are looking less and less productive each week since they got caught. The old guys are looking real tattered as well. to think they can win...what 3 more games... is a bit of stretch, i dont think they will win the AFC championship.
it will be fun to watch the playoffs. |

They supposedly cheated one game...the first game. They would have won anyways. They played and won 15 other games without cheating.

They won't have to worry about the teams like the Ravens or Eagles which were the only two teams that gave them problems. No team will challenge the Pats except the Colts. And the Patriots will be at home against the Colts in the AFC Championship game. I would bet you anything they are going all the way since no other team could beat them and they have played extremely tough teams such as the Colts, Cowboys, Steelers, and San Diego. You must not watch the NFL much to think the Patriots aren't the best team ever, or to think they won't win thr Superbowl. There will be no * near their name in the record book. They have played by the rules this season and they went undefeated. I understandyour biterness...most people are a little mad about their home teams getting dominated by the Patriots. |

not true, BilleHACK kept all of the film on teams calls and that is why he was fined.
but as teams created new calls (takes lots of time) games got closer....its all moot anyway, it will always be 16 with an * like Bonds in baseball.
Little piece of Pats trivia for you....many many moons ago Joe Paternio was offered twice to become HC. The second offer would have made him the highest paid NFL pro coach in history at 2 million a year. In addition to the lofty salery he would have received and unheard of 8% share of ownership in the Franchise. 8% would now be worth $80,000,000.00 dollars....what is Joes pay right now with Pennstate you ask...the same it has been since that offer 250k and a few years ago he donated 4 million to the University library.
Have to wonder, if joe had been in the drivers seat if he would have them out of obscurity decades ago?
oh well its a new season now and the playoffs are upon them, time to see who the best is. |

Personally, I don't like what the Patriots did. Especially since they've been my second favorite NFL team for a long time, right behind the Cowboys, but, it's been awhile since this came out and I'm sure teams have had lots of time to adjust. Because of this, and because the Pats still got to 16-0, it's a great possibility that they will once again be NFL champions. They can do it on skill alone. They've got the best quarterback in the league right now along with the best offensive line.....and their defense is at least in the top three in the league, if not the best there also. They'll go all the way, but, I hope the Cowboys knock them off. _________________

I love football.... too bad Americans had to go ruin a great sport by calling it Soccer and making all North Americans think that that sport with the throwing and the catching and the men in tights smacking butts is really football...sacrelige. _________________ random spelling mistakes added on purpose to annoy those that are annoyed by it. |

He probably said that because there are not Canadian football teams in the NFL. America likes the NHL because more than half the team are in America. |

Let's look at some of the Patriots...
Offense:
Tom Brady
Randy Moss
Wes Welker
Ben Watson
Logan Mankins
Stephen Neal
Heath Evans
Defense:
Adalius Thomas
Teddy Brushci
Mike Vrabel
Rodney Harrison
Rosevelt Colvin
Vince Wilfork
Junior Seau
Asante Samual
The Patriots got Tom Brady in the 6th round, while every other team threw away their picks on other QB's that aren't even in the league anymore.
2000 QB's
1. Chad Pennington, Marshall
2. Chris Redman, Louisville
3. Joe Hamilton, Georgia Tech
4. Tee Martin, Tennessee
5. Doug Johnson, Florida
6. Marc Bulger, West Virginia
7. Giovanni Carmazzi, Hofstra
8. Tim Rattay, Louisiana Tech
9. Todd Husak, Stanford
Those the only two you recognize? They took Troy Brown in the 8th round, Tedy Brushci in the 3rd round, Asante Samuel in the 4th round, Stepehen Neal went undrafted, and, of course, Tom Brady in the 6th round. That's coaching. Picking 4 Pro Bowlers in the mid to last rounds isn't a fluke. They gave these guys a chance, they coached them, and turned them into future hall of famers. Maybe not Stephen Neal, but, he is still a great player.
They've gotten rid of the bad attitude of 3 players in the last few years I can recall. Brandon Merriweather, Randy Moss, and Corey Dillon. They don't tollerate it.
If you gave the Lions, Raiders, or Ravens other teams signs, they would have a record with maybe one more win. The Patriots had the talent to actually execute. You have an idea whats on the test, but, you still have to take it. |
