Hello there,
After about 15 years of not playing I've decided to get back on skates and play roller/ice to stay in shape and stay limber as I head into my 40's.
I'm 38 right now, and I have to admit I'm nervous about playing again since it's been such a long time and I'm not exactly young anymore. But I'm in not-so-bad shape right now and I'm determined. Are there any other goalies about my age out there that can give some tips? |

Hey there - I just joined this forum today.
I am 52 years old and have started playing again. I was not so bad back in the day. Here are my tips, for what they are worth (ice for me):
Realize you will likely suck for a while - do not let this bother you - it is unrealistic to expect anything else.
The shock to the body is a lot - best if you can really get in shape - legs/lunges, core, etc. Took me a few weeks to adjust to this.
Be careful doing the things you took for granted a long time ago - your body is less limber.
Your reaction times will likely be slower - don't get frustrated.
Keep things in perspective.
Enjoy! |
