Well, my name is.... *drum roll*.... Josh. You'd have never guessed, right? Very Happy

I am also from Western PA (Butler, PA to be exact. Lived there for the first 19 years of my life) and played high school hockey there years ago. I'm 29 now, and living in Columbus, GA. We have a minor league team here, and we're able to use their ice for adult games. The city is breaking ground on a second ice rink this September.

I've also been playing in a lot of roller hockey tournaments all over the southeast and roller hockey leagues in the area. Having a lot of fun. We just got back from a 2Hot4Ice National tournament near Raleigh, NC.

Sadly, I do not play the bass. Very Happy I do, however, play the saxophone. It must be a prerequisite to play hockey goalie AND play an instrument. LOL

i played the violin from age 3 to 15 or so, but my mom's a violinist and i think that kind of killed my interest in practicing, etc. bass is just, i dunno, cooler or something...i don't like to say that though because i do love classical and bluegrass music, but man i find bass so much more fulfilling. it's like playing goalie vs. playing defense or something. does that make any sense?

i'm a little drunk now so i'll elaborate:

playing bass, you're keeping up the bottom end, it's a lot more of a defensive position. you stand in the back, backing everyone else up, but man when those drums let up and the lead quiets down for a bit it's like a breakaway and it's your time to shine...bass solo! playing violin is more like playing forward or something, intrinsically you try to be a bit of a primadona because the higher register is more readily audible, etc. and you're in the limelight all the time.
