Great to have found this place!
46 year old former tender. Played from age 6 to 34 until surgeries from 11:30 pm midweek games just caught up w/ me. Still burn for it but the world moves on. Just getting back into things again and boy oh boy how things have changed. My gear is the old brown leather stuff and masks we made in the basement and built at the body shop. _________________ old broken down end of the road goaler

Welcome from MN! I was, although not to your extent, in a similar position about 2 years ago where my equipment was obsolete and downright dangerous considering the advances in the game today. There's lots of great info here that should help you on your way getting back into the game! _________________

| Welcome to the forums. There's plenty of great info around from "How To:" threads to For Sale threads. And if you need to know something post a thread in the appropriate section and there's plenty of people around to help you out with backgrounds including customer service to hockey equipment purchaser. There's certainly plenty of knowledge on these forums. |

thanks for the welcomes fellas....(ladies if applicable...werent any females playing during my time).
playing days are done so I wont be shopping for equipment - what happened to CCM? - but surfing the web I am blown away by the resources available now days for us nutbars - past and present - who tend the nets. for example, like I said about masks. back then, we made mine by casting my face in the locker room and building it at the body shop.

Welcome!
Don't mind my cynical outlook on things, and don't always take me seriously.
just a warning.

Nope, that's correct. CCM went the way of Itech and I believe Eagle. They're all dead names with a great legacy behind them.
Not to mention any pads made by major manufacturers that aren't the top of the line model, are produced overseas. |

Good to see another old guy. Yea CCM and Koho are now made over seas for the bulk of it. The game is still the same, guys with sticks shoot pucks and try to get them past you. _________________

I went through the same thing a few years ago. I played OHL Jr., then got out of the game for a period of time (cost, school, work, etc.). By time I returned, everything had changed in terms of equipment. But, as pointed out, some things remain the same. It is still the greatest game invented (so far). I figure I have another 10 years (I'm 42 now) between the pipes before some injury ends it for me. Not too many goalies over the age of 50, I don't think.
For the most part, this forum is great for all kinds of advice. There are a few who appear to be snot-nosed, spoiled brats, but they are the exception. |

No they're gone. Now all we have left is egotistical, close-minded pricks.
Huge difference. |

| Hey all, just joined and have been reading alot. Used to play way back when, 28 yrs or so ago. That being said I just recently got back onto the ice. I joined a nite league and figured at 46 I have a few years left till the old legs give out. Anyway I'll get off the soap box step back and watch, listen and learn. |
