I've been golfing for 9 years, although I haven't been out much over the past few years. My handicap the last year I played enough to get an accurate measurement was around 8. The best clubs for me have always been the 3 wood, 7 iron and the driver although my other irons aren't bad either. My driver has always been the club I worked on most....mostly because my brother is a scratch golfer so I needed a part of my game that I could beat him at. I have a high swing speed and driver the ball consistently between the 280 and 300 yard markers and generally right down the middle, although I did have some issues with a slice for a little while due to having a driver with the shaft was too flexible for my swing speed. Anyway, I fixed that by getting a stiff shaft(no comments on that ) and it's worked out great.
Anyway, last week I went on Kijiji.ca and picked up a Ping Tisi Tec 400cc driver that I'm currently re-finishing. I haven't had a chance to hit the range with it yet, but I had to get a new driver anyway. I was at the driving range of one of the local driving ranges a couple weeks ago and had a guy ask if he could try a couple shots with my driver. After hitting five or six balls, he put the head cover on and handed the driver back to me....thanked me and walked away. I didn't think anything of it until the next day when I hit the range again. The longest drive I could get was around the 170 marker and the driver just didn't sound right. After hitting a few extremely short shots, I turned the club over and found a large dent and scratch towards the toe of the club. The guy had hit a rock with it and just walked away without saying anything. In the process he also cracked it where the bottom of the club meets the top. Really sucks, especially that he didn't say anything about it....but....on the other hand, it gave me an excuse to get another one.
Anyway, I'll put up some pictures as soon as I have it totally refinished. Sure, it's not goalie gear, but I did sell the old Tour pads, TPS blocker and Itech trapper to get it and to pay for a couple rounds. _________________

I've also had a fun time checking out the online reviews of my driver. It's better then FS telling how good he is. I didn't have much to do at work a few nights ago so I thought I'd check a few out. All of the reviews were pretty much the same. Something along the line of this:
"This is the best driver ever. I'm a 20+ handicapper who used to drive the ball 230 yards with a slice, now I'm hitting it 300+ and straight down the middle everytime."
One guy actually said he used to only be able to hit the ball 120 yards, but now he's hitting it 280 yards.
Those reviews had me LingMAO for sure. At that rate, I'll be hitting the ball between 370 and 400 yards without breaking a sweat. _________________

I try to golf... never can find time to get out more than once or twice a year anymore, and those are usually corporate things (ie. on expensive courses I have no business playing on)
I got a new set of Jazz AlleyCat clubs for my graduation 3 years ago from my parents... not bad clubs, but I'm waiting till I have more free time to play and for me to improve before I get the Pings that I want... (I can't stand the Nike stuff for some reason)
Plus, I have a family friend that works at Glen Abbey, so i can get discounted rates there occassionally, but what I would save in green fees i more than cover in lost balls. _________________ random spelling mistakes added on purpose to annoy those that are annoyed by it. |

I've almost got my Ping driver totally re-finished. I put the last coat of clear on it before heading out for work. The clear coat actually looked like it frosted up pretty badly. It did the same thing on a coat I put on it last night but this morning it was clear so hopefully it's the same thing and when I get home it will be alright. I'd hate to have to do it all over again. Takes too long to get it just right and I want to use it next weekend.
I'll post pictures of it when it's done. _________________

I was looking for a golf school to attend and searched Google under the key words Golf School and Golf Schools. I ran upon an ad that read”Top Ten Golf Schools”. I reveiwed the articles written there to later find out that the website was owned by the same golf schools listed as Top Ten. If you booked with one school listed there, you were enrolling with all of the other schools listed there because they all the same.
I confronted the owner and he finally confessed that it was a marketing technique that he was using to dominate the search engines and obtain the business by not allowing clients to search the other schools advertising on Google. He also told me that they were not real golf schools but they were kind of a travel agency refering clients to the courses.
