today i was running errans with my buddy, we went around this corner a bit wide and hit a pot hole on the edge of the street. the hole "bounced" us on to the dirt where we started to fish tail, my friend tried to correct us back on to the street but once we hit the pavement he had to take a sharp right in order to avoid hitting an on coming car. our car went up on 2 wheels and proceeded to flip all the way around.it ended up stopping on the passengers side door (the side i was on). some how i climbed out of his door before he did and then i helped him out of the car. this was the first accident that i have ever been in and i think it was a pretty good one just feels good to be alive and i cant believe that we both came out with out a scratch.
feel free to share your stories. _________________ How hard would you play today if you couldn't play tomorrow?

been in several
most with the same "friend" behind the wheel. He tired to kill us 4 times....I dont speak to him anymore.
any time you can walk away consider yourself very luck...
each one I have been in has been in ERROR...no such things as Accidents in my book.
Distraction, speed, what ever you claim...is no excuess.
I laid my bike before this one down at over 70 on the hgw one night after being cut off...I had debated weather or not wear my leathers and helmet....dont do that anymroe, happy I had them on.
happy you alright. |

Damn rj
I've never been in a full on accident, but this was the closest (and by far the scariest) call I've ever had:
Me and my mom were driving back late at night from one of my hockey tournaments. It was really dark, and we already had a snowfall, so the roads weren't in the greatest shape. I was in the passenger seat, fooling around on my laptop. Suddenly I hear my mom go "WHAT THE F***!" and we swerved onto the shoulder. I looked up from my laptop and saw this HUGE transport coming right towards us, at least half in our lane. So he went flying by us like that, and the SUV that we were in started to bounce and go crazy on the shoulder, so my mom swerved left back onto the road, but she swerved so hard we ended up in the other lane. So she swerved back to the right, and our SUV ended up facing oncoming traffic (the same way the transport had been going) in our original lane. And worst of all, the SUV stalled. So we got out, and flagged down the next car, which turned out to be my coach, his wife and his daughter. Then we saw the truck pull over up ahead, and he got out, came running towards us.
Turns out he was avoiding this HUGE moose, and his side mirror actually got torn off, and we walked along and found the moose's antlers. He offered to let us keep them, but my mom said no
This only happened about 8 months ago, I had nightmares for a week after it happened, and I get a slight panic whenever I see a transport coming towards me on any highway.
Good to hear you're okay though RJ. _________________

Nope, one night when my cousins were staying over ( and my parents were like in Toronto or something ) my cousin asked my sister if she wanted to drive, and we all thought he was joking, but he was serious.
So long story short, we drove on the highway, and went around town, at night. It was her first time driving. _________________

Dude trust me you would not have wanted anything to do with those antlers(ps curious how an suv mirror could have torn them off esp when they would have been a full 2' above the roof of a stock Taho, and still soft and in velevet this time of year...not saying its not so, but dont see how...any way here is the moose my buddy got last season in ME, on the young side but still a nice moose.

Just came back from my post-exams US trip and it seems I have a lot to catch up on...
I had my first serious crash last year, and I hope it will be the most serious thing I am ever involved in.
First, the reasons that led to the accident... I had really been limiting my sleep due to lots of work, the MBA, practices etc. The night before I went to bed at 2-3 am and woke up at 6 am to go to the office so I could get a couple of hours work in before my morning class. It was a Saturday and its usual for me to divide my work time (its usually a half day) to accommodate practices. So after 2 hours at the office I went to a three-hour class but left a little early to make my 11 am iaido practice.
Following that, I returned to the office for a couple of hours and then left for paintball practice and football practice after that. I had my paintball stuff and football stuff (both large bags) and my office car was getting an oil change so the vehicle coordinator suggested I take one of the larger cars that the printing press uses to transport supplies and products. So I took a Fiat Dublo instead of my usual Fiat Palio (this is important later on) and put all my stuff in the back.
As I started off on my usually 30 minute drive, it started raining and as usual that means accidents and slow traffic. So as I edged ahead in the stop and go traffic, the sleeplessness from the previous night along with the heat and humidity started getting to me and I felt drowsy. I started opening the window, blasting music, taking off my seat belt, etc. Dublos ring constantly when the seat belt is not attached but thankfully I later realized this was a dumb idea and put strapped back in.
Anyway traffic started clearing up (flowing at 65 mph and not so cramped) just as we got to the bridge. At that time, they had converted the left-most lane on our side into an additional lane for the opposite flow of traffic. I was traveling on the second left most lane, and all that separated our lane from the oncoming traffic was cones.
Next thing I know, I wake up just in time to catch an airbag to my face and suddenly the car started swerving. The front windshield was all in pieces but the side window on my side had shattered completely and I could see that I was turning a very tight spin. Suddenly another car hit me and my car ended up coming to a stop perpendicular to the lanes with the back portion in my lane and the front in the lane that was to my right before the crash.
So I dozed off and went into the oncoming traffic, and the van I hit (a full Ford Transit 15-seater) had nowhere to escape so our front lefts collided and that sent me into a spin and the car that hit me in the spin was the one following me in my lane. Luckily no one was seriously hurt, me and three guys from the other vehicle walked into the ambulance and went to a hospital.
I was lucky because if I had been driving my much smaller car or it wasn't raining and the usual traffic was present (80 mph) the result could have been much much worse. My knees broke the plastic covering under the steering column and when one of our company drivers went to see the impounded car he noticed that three of the four connecting points for my seat had broken from their welding and the seat was leaning forward and to the left. Obviously the front axle was broken and the engine was mostly touching the ground.
I continued driving the next day, not to show how tough I was but because everyone told me that if I didn't continue driving immediately after the accident, the psychology of the crash would make me afraid of driving. Even with that it took me months to shake the crash off and stop tensing up every single time the brake lights of the car 50 feet in front of me lit up. _________________ Efe
