The official announcement of this game and its location will be made at the Hawks convention next weekend.
I guess my pipe-dream of being able to pre-buy tickets at the convention are over.

I don't know exactly, I'm assuming it will be moderately hard.
I mean, it's Chicago, their team sucks so there's not many fans.
I guarantee 60% of the people there will be wings fans or people who just wanted to see a game.
That being said, it'd still be hard.
I've already started putting money aside.

Season ticket holders will be given tickets to this game. If you have 4 season seats you will get 4 seats to the outdoor game.
Also, the United Center holds 17-18,000 people and Wrigley hold 42,000 so season shouldnt be a problem in that regard.
Chicago does have a HUGE number of brokers and I am concerned that they will buy up a majority of the tickets and jack the prices.
The outdoor game with Buffalo had just over 71,000 people... so it is a toss up.
They still have not announced it so the game could be played at Soldier Field as well, though there was concern over the fact that the Bears may need the field.
I wont touch on the topic of Chicago fans simply based on the aspect that you are a Red Wings fan commenting on the situation so your bias and probable lack of knowledge outside of Wings v Hawks games proves it pointless.
Either way, I am looking forward to the convention this weekend. There is a lot of hoping and speculation that in an effort to keep red win fans from buying a lot of tickets that vouchers will be pre-released at the convention in limited quantities... I doubt this is the case but I have seen organizations do stranger things so we will see.

hey striaght faced we dont want your kind around this great city. stay in detriot.  our crappy team won the season series against your stanly cup champions and im sure will do it this year. the buzz is growing in chicago and the buzz some may say is fading in detroit. even despite the success. i dont think it will be as easy for wings fans to invade chicago as in previous years. |

For some odd reason the Blackhawks and the NHL announced today that the game will indeed happen and take place at Wrigley. For the life of me I cannot understand why they wouldnt simply wait 2 more days and announce it at the convention. Everyone knew it was going to happen anyway but why rush the announcement.
Again, Im still holding out hope that they will have the ability to purchase ticket vouchers in advance this weekend... doubtful, but Im holding out for it.
