Comcast Sportsnet reported last night, with an official comment to come from the NHL later this or early next week, that the Chicago Blackhawks will host the Detroit Red Wings in an original six match-up to be held at Wrigley Field in Chicago for the January 2009 Winter Classic.

I have already sent an e-mails and left messages with friends and family that all Birthday, Christmas and any other gifts are to be in the form of money to purchase 2 tickets.

i'm super psyched. Chicago is like 8 hours from here. I'd take the trek.

It was cool watching the first Winter Classic, but I got bored with all the constant breaks and ice problems. I'll try to see if I can sit still for this one.

we actually played in a game after the winter classic, like the next day. and this one end of the ice was really bad. the compresser broke that day. anyways, the crease at that end, wasnt there. i was litteraly playing on half concrete, half thin ice. so they did what they did for the winter classic, halfway throgh the 3rd period, we swaped ends Laughing

The only problem with Soldier Field is that the Bears may need the field and the set up and tear down time for the outdoor game is apparently very lengthy.

As for the match up... Detroit is one of the few teams the Hawks play well. The Hawks won 4 of 6 against them this past season including a game where they chase Hasek out and scored 2 more on Osgood.

its the reason we lost, 4-2. it was 2-2 in the beginning of the 3rd, and they scored their next two in the first half of the period Laughing
